As millions of children and adults participate in the fun of Halloween on the night of October 31st, few will be aware of its ancient Celtic roots in the Samhain (Samain) festival. In Celtic Ireland about 2,000 years ago, Samhain was the division of the year between the lighter half (summer) and the darker half (winter). At Samhain the division between this world and the otherworld was at its thinnest, allowing spirits to pass through.

So we will encounter spirits? What if I live in home that my loved ones never went to? It's an old house, not really interested in inviting other spirits to my house that are not my loved ones.

Yes you will know your loved one's spirit is near.

This is why we light a candle in the window of our house so they will see the light that guides them home,

It protects us too and It's stop's them from entering.

The trouble with your theroy is that it is dependent upon the gregorain numbering system for days. When anyone with a clue of sense understands that such days, if they truly did exist, would exist on an astronomical date, and that the astronomaical date would float around from year to year on the gregorian calendar system.

There is also an old, old tradition known as Old Samhain: this is celebrated mainly on the 8th of November, although (rarely) it is also celebrated on the 7th here and there. This is closer to the original date of Samhain in the pre-Gregorian calendar, and almost all Traditional witches in Celtic areas mark this day in some way or another.

Its true name is Samhain: it is the feast of the Dead in the Celtic Calendar. On this night the veils between the worlds are lowered and not only can a dedicated person seek advice from the Other-worlds but the dead ancestors can reach out to the living.

There is more than one Other-world, remember. There is what other cultures might call the Faerie World…the magical lands of the Danaan who became known as the Sidhe, they who live in the Hollow Hills. There is the Other- world proper, whence we go when we die. Part of our spirit remains there, a trace of us, while the more integrated self is reborn. When we pray to the ancestors we access the sum of all the wisdom learned by all the people through all the long years. There is the Homeland where dwell the Gods: not only the gods but where we can access the Archetypes (such as the Warrior, or the Chief or the Bard.) All these worlds are open to you at Samhain, provided you seek them with a gentle heart and with a respectful purpose.

Yes I understand all that, but you missed my point. Unless your comming with the cosmic calendar understanding you can't try to place that date upon the 31st. Sure that's a targeted date, and the effects would remain or be starting about that date, the peak time can only be known trough the cosmic calendary sytem or transendence.

We got locked into a date, be we know the time and prepare anyway in our time. 31st is a starting point now but we know the real time, of the veils thinning.

Secondly, to what degree, to what group and associations, and for what reasonings would be great topics to reflect upon.

I know one man that can pass through the realms on the most closed date far better then another man I knew on the most open date.

Then we should look at the "year" itself as the year is also more opening or closed.

Such that, if we'd let our minds wonder, on the right day of the right year, decaded, century, a gateway could actually open up.

It's not just the date . It's feeling it. One can feel when the gates are open or opening. Once you feel it then you can recognize it.
