you'll want to have backups to your backups and don't keep everything in one physical location. I've got a half dozen stoves.

learn how to build a fire and how to find tinder even when it's wet out. Have multiple ways to start a fire. I carry a firesteel on my belt at all times.

They thought the storm was going to be a monster and it fizzled. Expect something big real soon.....

You mean a double-walled stove?

Sometimes a double wall is good but not for these little alcohol stoves.

Sometimes insulation is too much mass and reduces the efficiency of the stove. It's a science and an art.

That's really nice. Thanks. Maybe I can get myself to make some of those.

I read where 4 tealight candles will boil water and you can cook fish, eggs, etc:. So, I have 3 small clay pots (for plants) that I will turn upside down. In the middle of them, I can place the candles and put a cooking pot on top of the clay pots.

I'll put aluminum foil under all of it and I think I'll be fine. For me, the simpler, the better I like it and it doesn't take much storage space either. I have this stuff in my emergency preparedness supplies.

We made portable stoves in Girl Scouts, but I can't remember what materials we used. Thanks!

Better one yet,,,

Large cat food can or tuna can,, the "flat" kind,, punch holes around the rim ,,, put one (1) oz. of RUBBING ALCOHOL in it,, light and cook away.

so have any of you tried this yet?

and how long will the fuel burn?

if you dont have insulation, does it wear out faster?

I have everything but the insulation.
is it really necessary?

This one is more difficult to make, but it has a very nice burner.
