do you want to live a life of slavery and servitude and work all the time and give your money to the government and the rich

or do you want to have a balanced life of redistribution, work, play and spend time with your family

we are one

from the rich take half their wealth and take their mansion away from them

redistribute to the poor or people with families

We are one

assign work for everyone

20 hours per week, free house, free food, free medical care

welcome socialism utopia

YES we CAN!!!!!!

A flat candy rate seems fair to me.

Everyone comes and gets all the candy they want and then give a flat percentage of that candy to those who can't afford it or walk or have some other issues limiting them from candy.

The fact that some can collect the most candy and have to give back less percentage wise is an abomination and has nothing to do with the term fair.

Does that not give incentive to try harder? Plus like I said earlier 3 bags getting 15% taken is still more total than 1 bag losing 30%

Re: COMEDIAN ‘REDISTRIBUTES’ CHILDREN’S CANDY IN HILARIOUS ‘OBAMA-STYLE’ HALLOWEEN PRANK
OP, like the 'comedian' are simply put, not very intelligent, and much like the GOP talking heads, are simply trying to use a horribly inaccurate, and frankly dishonest analogy to try to appeal to the misguided ideas of those even dumber than they are.

Allow me to explain;

The question of 'redistributing wealth', as stated in the very quotes within that video, is of asking the rich to pay the same share of taxes as everyone else. Their 'fair share'.

If you are to make the (again, shockingly unintelligent) analogy of comparing taxes to kids and their Halloween candy, this would be a more accurate setup;

ALL the kids are required by pay back a certain percentage of the candy they received to pay for the shuttle van that carried them around all night. The kids who gathered up 1 bag of candy all have to pay 30% of their candy into the van fund.

But the kids who gathered up 3 bags of candy only have to pay 15% of their candy into the van fund.

Now go ask the kids if that's fair and see what kind of answers you get.

You poor people are just so, so dumb. You lack the mental skills to even evaluate the validity of an analogy.
 Quoting: CleverMoniker 26707174

sorry your analogy doesn't work. the kids who had more candy worked harder

and i seriously doubt if many on this thread are "poor"

Re: COMEDIAN ‘REDISTRIBUTES’ CHILDREN’S CANDY IN HILARIOUS ‘OBAMA-STYLE’ HALLOWEEN PRANK

[link to youtu.be]

In an “Obama-style” Halloween prank, Fox News contributor, actor and comedian Steven Crowder paid a visit to young trick-or-treaters at a local church’s “trunk or treat” event and attempted to “redistribute” their candy to make the system more “fair.” In the video, Crowder, dressed in a monkey costume, says the stunt is an attempt to teach kids about the American tax system.

Of course, the Obama administration’s official stance on tax policy is based on the belief that the rich aren’t paying their “fair share” in taxes — despite the fact that the nation’s top 10 percent of income earners pay roughly 70 percent of all federal income taxes.

As Crowder reaches into kids’ candy baskets and gives it to other children with less candy, the idea of redistribution is met with great resistance.

“Hey, dude that’s not cool,” one kid says. “It’s not fun to take people’s candy…That’s my candy, I worked hard for it.”

“But you had more than him,” Crowder replies.

‘That’s OK.”

Of course there is an incentive to try harder.
If I am making a wimpy 10 bars of candy an hour and the candy monster comes and takes 30% I am left with 7 bars to do with what I like.

If I am making 100 bars/hour and the monster comes and takes 30% I am left with 70 bars to do with what I like.

Therefore the more candy bars I make the more it benefits me and the more it benefits my country

The problem is, we have too many candy hoarders that have so much candy they are forced to hide it in their pockets. They even move it into other countries because they don't want to pay the same 30% as everyone else.

Heck they are even willing to pay people tons of candy to overlook their candy when it's audit time.

The bag solution you provide is a bit off, but still fits. The worst way to measure candy is by the bag full. 15% of a pillow case is way more than 15% of a plastic grocery bag. What some people try to do is put all their good candy into a smaller bag so when the monster comes he can't take all of the good candy.

Flat tax is the only thing that makes any sense at all.

Imagine this same experiment where you only took 10% from a bag filled with candy and took 30% from a bag half full.
This is the problem with the current economic state of this country.

Let's take it to the simplest terms. Would you rather strive to earn a lot and provide well for your loved ones?
Or would you rather let someone else do the work and give you hand-outs so your kids can eat?

I do understand the difference between freeloaders and truly needy. Which is why I am a very charitable person. Also which is why I am totally against corporate welfare also.

But, even with the truly needy, we must be careful not to cripple them by handouts. What happens to a wild animal that gets fed by humans? It becomes dependent and cannot hunt for itself anymore and dies without the handout.

We should focus more on finding ways for the "needy" to become successful. To be able to contribute and benefit from all that comes from hardwork and self reliance.

rejoice in the downfall of a King. and no one calls them on the murderous spirit in their heart.

...this is supposed to make a politically sound analogy?

Starting to sound more and more like traditional dem/rep in here. "It doesn't matter how grossly inaccurate of an example this is, as long as it agrees with me."

Money does not equal candy. If anything, this video goes to show how selfishly attached we are to frivolous possessions. The children aren't going to realistically think about how much of that candy is going to be thrown away, how much of it they don't even like, or furthermore how corrosive it is to their health. Not that I would say they shouldn't eat it...Halloween is fun, and they ought to enjoy it.

We don't all "deserve" cable television and multi-story homes and the latest fancy vehicle. Nor do these things even make us happy. Why insist that we need such an abundance of resources? It's ugly anyway, if you ask me. whatever

On the other end of the spectrum would be the people who have candy, but don't give any to the trick-or-treaters who come to their doors and instead hoard all the candy to themselves.

I agree that people who can should work for their candy, but if someone's hoarding it all there's less to go around.

Put another way, if there are 10 candy apples and Joe Blow is hoarding 9 of them, how many are there left for the hard working trick-or-treaters who come to his door?

I wouldn't at all be surprised if Joe Blow's house was toilet papered the following morning - probably by the same kids who didn't want to share their candy in the video.

I suppose greed and selfishness are virtues and sharing isn't on this thread.

Yeah I'll agree the income tax is completely absurd. But the way I look at it its like this. If I am a high income earner and rely on people to do the heavy lifting for me, i.e. a job creator. Then I rely more heavily on public transportation, health care, road maintenance, electric, water, sewer, gas. Cause not only do my employees need these things to get to their job, but also I use more federal and state facilities and utilities. I own buildings that need to be up more often than not.

My workers rely on the same utilities as I, but if the road is closed they just can't get to work. If the power s out, they don't make any widgets for the day. Sure some may still collect pay, but most will not.

So as a high income job creator I rely more heavily on govt. Utilities and transportation. Heck I can even run my business through the post office.

So this is how I justify the flat tax rate ideology. Yes I make more so I owe more, but in all actuality I rely on public services more so than the average worker. Considering workers only rely on these things for their own good, I rely on utilities and transportation for each one of my workers and for the business as a whole.

Do I think its fair for high earners to have to pay more percentage wise than a normal wage earner? No but having to pay more into a system that I rely more heavily on is something that I totally agree with.

He should have taken all the candy, provided 99% of it to 1% of the children, developed additional candy incentives for those 1% if they outsourced their candy collection to a poor third world nation, and then taken 30% off the top of the remaining children to show them that all but the top echelon get f-d no matter how you look at it. rant

That was great. "That's not your shirt, you didn't build that." LOL! I would have loved him explaining to them afterwards what the experiment was all about and how that is the plan of obama and that's what obama wants to do with their parents' salary.

I would love to do this to the black kids and parents that come top my door tonight. And the reason I single out the black kids is that I know all the blacks in my area support obama.

How do you think that would work out for me?

Does that not give incentive to try harder? Plus like I said earlier 3 bags getting 15% taken is still more total than 1 bag losing 30%
 Quoting: *Evan*

Re: COMEDIAN ‘REDISTRIBUTES’ CHILDREN’S CANDY IN HILARIOUS ‘OBAMA-STYLE’ HALLOWEEN PRANK
it's a lame prank referring to wealth redistribution from the top five percent down, a large part of middle class developement in history. the right wing US media has twisted this into some evil communist notion of wealth redistrubution in a very cynical way, which then gets repeated parrot-style by mindless right-wing people. Wealth redistribution is simply the process of creating a more equitable society with a bigger middle class via higher taxes on the wealthy. Americans really need to stop allowing right wing media interests from fucking their interests big-time.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14967818

This is wrong. Higher taxes, on anybody, have never helped the middle class. The rich will always be rich (they’ve got the money to pay off who they need to pay off to make sure of it) and the poor will always be poor. The war the government has always waged is on the middle class. The middle class serves no purpose to the government.

Forget about party affiliation. I’m neither republican nor democrat. Both parties are a different side of the same coin. Pick your poison, fascism or socialism, either way it’s a very small group controlling everybody else. Forget about the fact that the redistributionist’s are playing on words and ignoring the difference between wage income and investment income. Also forget about trying to figure out what a single dollar bill is worth to the government over its lifetime (how many thousands or millions of times is that same dollar taxed). Lastly forget about the fact that our entire tax system is so broken that any discussion about fixing the tax code should start with a blank sheet.

The only thing you have to remember and this was government 101 until about 15 to 20 years ago, is that the government is not here to help or to be trusted and should always be kept at arm’s length. That’s what this country was founded on and the philosophy is even truer today than it was then.

I understand the philosophy of an increasing tax burden (percentage) for increasing WAGE income; being that everybody has to pay for basic cost of living (food, water, shelter, clothing, etc.), which is a higher burden of income for lower income earners, if they are taxed at the same rate as higher income earners they will have less % of disposable income than higher income earners. Though I understand it and grudgingly accept it I don’t believe in the broader philosophy. I firmly believe the federal government should stay out of the people’s business, should only pay for defense and upkeep of a national transportation system and everything else should be handled at the state level. The one basic fact that all democrats fail to look square in the face (that is voters, not the politicians, they know this) is that higher taxes hurt the middle class. When companies have to pay more in taxes they have less revenue for new hires, higher salaries, and bonuses for the middle class. When companies have to scale back the first to go are the blue collar positions.

Either way you slice it, at the end of the day, government reach hurts only one class.
