In a statement on its website, the Church said that celebrating Halloween could contradict Church teachings and Christianity. One archbishop said the 31 October celebrations were promoting paganism to young people. Archbishop Andrzej Dziega warned that Halloween was behind a "culture of death". "This kind of fun, tempting children like candy, also poses the real possibility of great spiritual damage, even destroying spiritual life," the archbishop of Szczecin-Kamien wrote in a letter to be read out at Sunday sermons, according to the Polish Press Agency. He wrote that "irresponsible and anti-Christian fun" introduced young people to a "world of darkness, including devils, vampires and demons" in the name of "fun". The archbishop's statement echoes that of the Catholic Church in Poland, which warned that the "occult rituals" contradicted Church teachings and Christianity.... [link to www.bbc.co.uk] |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 23683415 United States 10/31/2012 01:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I had a blast this year with my 3 year old. He went as Buzz Lightyear, we went through a not-so-spooky house. Growing up, we "celebrated" halloween but were not allowed to be anything along the lines of witch, demon, devil, zombie/undead...anything considered "bad" or "Evil" I will keep that rule going for a few years, when he is an older teenager, he won't care as much BUT if he wanted to be a werewolf or vampire I'm sure it won't damage his psyche and throw him into a life of prison and despair. |

Did I buy candy? Yes as I live in an area with many kids who trick or treat... It is also a dangerous time for people that take the day as to practice occultism and try to harm other's... Maybe we should change the day and call it Costume day on October 30th.... Nobody... User ID: 967366 United States 10/31/2012 01:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Question is, do you know the answer? Why would any follower of 'The Way' celebrate the occult, as we are told to avoid all apperances of evil (1 Thess. 5:22). Deuteronomy 18:9-14 — Every aspect of the occult is here itemized and forbidden as an “abomination.” Halloween is steeped in some very evil history, and is not of God. Christians are sanctified outside of this world, so they should fugure if the world is doing, thet probably shouldn't. The same goes for Christmas...we'll talk about that one later, I'm sure. Churches will not go against the celebration of Christmas, because they are too concerend about losing tithe paying parishoners. Read Matthew 15 - Quit following the commandments of men and their traditions. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1580547 United States 10/31/2012 02:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OF COURSE NOT!! It's an EVIL, SATANIC pagan ritualistic holiday! NO one who claims to be a Christian should have ANY part in it, nor should they have something "alternative" as to make their kids think they're missing out on something. |

Its when we remember the departed..but not by wearing ghoul costumes If wearing costumes is what's scaring you about this holiday, then just don't do it? But you're right, Halloween is thought to have come from All Saints' Day -- which is a Christian holiday of honoring Saints. I don't see what's so frightening to Christians about having fun on this day -- Halloween is a Christian creation itself! The only thing that has been adapted over time is dressing up in costumes -- which historians aren't exactly sure where or when that started; it's why people associate All Hallow's Eve with paganism, because pagans were known to wear masks back then to fool the 'dead' into thinking they were different creatures.. But there's no proof that there's any relation of that Pagan ritualistic behavior to Halloween at all.. |
