Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16772132 "omg we better not have any fun on this day, God will smite us innocent Christians." Wake up. How can you love someone you fear how can you fear someone you love It isnt to me at least about being afraid of God it is about.. will God be pleased in my opinion..hardly Whenever there is joy in your heart, you better believe God is pleased. If you don't want to enjoy Halloween then don't. But don't condemn others, and especially don't condemn the children, whose sound of laughter and delight on a night like tonight is music to God's ears. |

Easter is not about chocolate.. or bunnies or eggs.. Its about a man that came to teach love and forgiveness peace and compassion..the Messiah to us Christians..and though not having hurt anyone..was tortured..mocked..insulted..slandered..unjustly tried..and nailed to a cross |

I am a Christian.. |

God is the judge, not us. Teaching reverence for God using our own chastisement or opinions does not typically work very well. We can witness this by many of the replies to this thread. Christ would have us feed His sheep, not flog them. |

You may not realize it but these approaches serve satan to turn some away more than they do Almighty God. This why we teach using His Word which is perfect, and not our own. |

Oh Oyster - you're closer than you think! I pray for you - I think you're a sharp cookie with an open mind - you'll see it soon! As to the Halloween question - I find it ridiculous that we shove a lie like Santa on our kids (with possible future consequences) without a second thought but somehow are remiss to let them explore the fright and scariness of a evil and enemy that are real??? Halloween isn't devil worship unless you want to make it that way and that's a separate issue all together. It is a good platform for helping kids explore the scary side of the inevitables of life - death and the evil one... And the protection of the Father. Halloween has given me great opportunities as a parent to discuss these issues with my kids. Additionally most of the time it's just some pretend dress up - princess, cop, doctor etc... That's any given Tuesday in a kids life. So what if you throw a little candy in with it. And Sleepy Hollow - an American classic! I love to read it to my kids when we carve pumpkins... I think Jesus would tell you to lighten up. I think He laughs at how silly we are to get all caught up in the debate over this stupidity than spend the time discussing real doctrinal issues and study... He's so much bigger than Satan - why do you get so caught up you forget that? |
