I'm not a fan of IQ. It's only a narrow part of intelligence.

167, tested for a job.
I have a friend who is 190, and is vice president of a large company. He is the typical egghead. Dry sense of humor, and not very social.

I took the official Mensa test and scored 131 which is top 3% of world population as stated in the score letter I recieved! The scores you guys are spitting out here are astronomical, damn can you guys move shit with your minds?

Anyone been tested properly under supervision or are you guys talking internet test scores?

I can move thoughts with my mind with greater efficiency than average, does that count?

Anyway, my IQ is 135 for most sub-intelligences (verbal, spatial...), but my mathematical-logical ability is 160. And so, I can't say what someone with spatial IQ of 160 can do, but I can give you the scoop on what 160 means when it comes to math and logic:

I can explore entirely new fields in math.

Dumb people can't learn advanced math. Smart people can learn advanced math, when properly instructed. But really smart people (with 160 or more) can find out shit on their own.

My accomplishments in math are not great, because I haven't been putting that much effort and time into it, but I have toyed with it and come up with some interesting stuff.

My biggest achievement is in theoretical physics though, where I came up with some equations that connects Einstein's special relativity with classical mechanics that are not commonly known.

But as I said, actually using your brain power takes work, and I'm a lazy fucker. High IQ is not a guarantee of success in anything, but low IQ does guarantee you won't push the boundary as a scientist.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26694717

I am the opposite. I am very good at math. My brain can do wonders with numbers.

It's language and conversation I have trouble with.

I wonder why? I wonder what that says about my brain? Does it meanI use my left brain more than my right brain?
 Quoting: *Evan*

I'm like you in the math department. It was always my best subject. I think I was one of the few people in college who took Calculus courses just to get easy A's.

English was my passion, though. I excelled in English as much as I did in mathematics, but I don't think it was due to any innate ability as was the case with math.

I was a voracious reader as a child. (So much so that when my parents grounded me, they took away my books. It was the only real way to punish me.) I believe my English skills were learned/absorbed, the result of always having a book in front of my face.

My weakness is second languages. I've found that attempting to learn a new language is very difficult for me. When I tried to learn German, I ended up screaming in frustration and banging my head against my desk.

This leaves me wondering if, perhaps, I would have struggled with English as well if it were not for my reading addiction.

If you yourself are not in "the club" why would you be disappointed that others are not able to qualify to those standards? The reason why I KNOW that you're not above the level in which you are asking is because of the existence of this thread.

Secondly, I'm not for sure what you truly expected. You obviously haven't been around GLP for very long, or, you wouldn't have posted this thread as a serious question. These guys can barely keep from drooling on their keyboards.

Last but not least...how were you intending to PROVE whether these people actually had a 160 IQ if they claimed it? You'll find in a place like this, those who would make such admissions only are attacked for doing so, and that the idiots are quite proud of their ignorance. They literally take pride in misspellings and wish doom upon the word in which they live. Therefore, you're not dealing with geniuses here. Most of them are barely above the operating level of an amoeba.

THINK CRITICALLY...

If you want to find people who are truly intelligent...GO TO A LIBRARY. Most of the people on GLP have never even seen one.

Re: How many people have 160 IQ
Some people clearly have a brain that works faster and remembers more than some other people's brains. The IQ test and scaling however is a very narrow measure of overall intelligence and fails to adequately measure a number of items that are both useful and necessary for everyday living and even creativity.

Many if not most extremely high IQ types are NOT very creative when it comes to interdisciplinary integration. That is why you will find that most inventors and creative types, as well as most successful business or political types and great writers, while having a high IQ (upper 3%+- or so) are NOT in the upper 1% range of intelligence as measured by IQ.

 Quoting: 130 I.Q. 26697328

I cannot learn when someone is trying to teach me; I do have to read up on it on my own. The strange thing is that in school, I would make straight A's one year and then D's the next. I read almost all of the books in the library. I was placed in Advanced Algebra in 7th grade, didn't pay attention and failed. I was placed in AP English in 9th grade, met my best friend, and then spent the rest of the year talking with her. I drove my teachers crazy.
I made a perfect score on the English portion of the SAT's, but then made a pattern in the Scantron columns instead of doing the work.

The only awards that I ever won in high school were for writing.

Also, I pick up on languages quite easily. I'm not fluent in any of them; but I can understand Spanish, French, and Italian for the most part and can piece together a somewhat intelligible sentence.

"Intelligence" is relative to personal situation.
A man with a 160 IQ might as well have the mind of an infant if he's stranded in the woods. In the same situation, a typical redneck high school dropout will be, comparatively, a genius.

For this, I always found it funny that good ol' southern boys are branded as "dumb". When SHTF and you're trying to survive, who are YOU going to want to be partnered up with? Go ahead and sign me up for hanging with Clem and Jesco.

Did anyone ever take that ASVAB military test? It was a bunch of common-sense questions about stuff like how an engine makes power and such.
All the smartest kids in our class failed miserably, while myself and my redneck gear-head buddies scored at the top of the class.

And be partnered with a bunch of dumb meth-heads.... No thanks.

I lived in Kentucky a couple of times. The second time I lived there I spent a lot of time in the Daniel Boone Forest. I would see interesting animals (snakes and spiders in particular)I would have thought the locals knew what they were, they didn't have a clue and these people had lived there their whole lives. Where I am from, I can identify about anything in the wild. Those "low-IQ southern boys" didn't know anything. So please do keep the southern boys with you as they will not be bugging me.

My youngest took the military test. She scored an 89, which was the highest score in her school. FYI, she graduated 1st in her class, with a GPA of 4.49. She was surprised that most of the upper ranked kids had scores mostly in the 50's.
