Been having problem for almost 2 weeks,sat tv..internet...sites like facebook,youtube,twitter and even my home phone which had a loud ass hum for almost 3 days last week.

One of my parental types had 30 years with Ma Bell in engineering, this is absolutely not normal. And it has been going on for quite sometime.

If I live to the average lifespan of a man in my generation, I will have lived to see the Internet born and to see it die. It's a mathematical certainty.

A family member's satellite has been down for a week, I've had issues with cable and with my cell net, as well. The GPS in truck has been acting up and Google Maps is way the hell off.

The last thing THTB want down is the network. How would they be able to charge you for anything?

My connection yesterday was slow for certain sites. Today is bit better.

On my sat tv the piture goes out but sound still rolling then sometimes it just freezes up.

Ok, lets start from the simple questions and move up if we are trying to figure this out.

1) What could cause A (singular) hub to go down? Electrical loss is an obvious one, but could a virus or active DDOS do the trick?

2) What is the carrying load for each (If we lose X is it a 10% loss in internet capability or similar measure)?

3) Is there any documentation as to the location of all of the internet hubs, on or offline? Preferably a map or GIS shapefile, but anything is helpful. If there is a random spread then it opens new questions. If they are focused in an area we know to ask different ones (or blame Sandy).

4) Is each hub owned and operated by individual company or are they collectively managed by someone? Either way is there a press release or rep we could contact to see what is going on?

Just trying to get some focus. We need to find out if there is an issue, or if we are just wasting tp panicking and soiling perfectly good pants for no reason.

Mine has been slow to spotty the last few weeks. I thought is was my service provider so I switched to a different company with that install tomorrow. Guess I'll find out if its the old internet provider or not.

Thanks for letting me know. I thought it was just my 10-year-old laptop.

You are correct. It has been like this for months, however, it is not normal. And it's increasing.

My internet has been really slow for the last few days. I defragged, dumped cache and cookies but it's still slow. Now I know why. Thanks for the info.

Here in the north of ireland we have been having trouble with the internet.

I used to have Sky then went to Virgin, with Sky offering deals i went back and there was nothing they could do to get it working, 3 engineers couldn't.

In work our internet is never right not for over a month now. and they have rang the company endless times still they find no fault and still it's on and off.

What is going on??

Exactly! They are routing all traffic across routers they actually control and can censor traffic. Also gives them better tracking for knocking on your door if you expose anything about the coming extinction event!
