Yeti DNA proof / mermaid show on DSC
I say supposed until definitive proof comes in other than the vague test reports. There are several articles that could be considered fairly recent as well as - at the end of this post - the latest DNA "test results" that I have provided two links to. I would believe that the "Siberian Times" would be the original.

There is also an article a the Voice of Russia Radio web site from June 2012:

This WND article has the most detail but nothing regarding these "tests" that were done on the hair.

That said, Discovery News back in May of 2012 posted the intent to study a group of samples and one would think these hair samples as well although the Siberian Times article doesn't mention them:

A new university-backed project aims to investigate cryptic species such as the yeti whose existence is unproven, through genetic testing.

Researchers from Oxford University and the Lausanne Museum of Zoology are asking anyone with a collection of cryptozoological material to submit descriptions of it. The researchers will then ask for hair and other samples for genetic identification.

"I'm challenging and inviting the cryptozoologists to come up with the evidence instead of complaining that science is rejecting what they have to say," said geneticist Bryan Sykes of the University of Oxford.

The Siberian Times snippet:

The tests were undertaken on hair found one year ago in the Azasskaya Cave in the Mourt Shoriya area of Kemerovo region in Siberia, it was alleged.

'All three world level universities have finished DNA analysis of the hair and said that the hair belongs to a creature which is closer by its biological parameters to Homo sapiens than a monkey. The Yeti's DNA is evidently less than one percent different to that of a human.'

Giving strangely scant details, the report claimed that the cave hair was divided into three lots - 'one was sent to a laboratory in Moscow, another to a laboratory in St Petersburg and the third was sent to an Idaho laboratory'.

There has been speculation previously that some people in Kemerovo - where there have been many alleged sightings - sought to exaggerate tales about the Yeti to boost tourism in southern Siberia.

wether or not this is genuine or a hoax it will never be accepted amoungst the scientific community. I think it would take a sashquash take over or the fucking white house for the scientific world to acknowledge the existence of humanoids. Why because if they do it will destroy their beloved theory of evolution.

I am also wondering what the hell was up with that Mermaid show on Discovery the other day. I mean WTF, they have the bones and audio proof and nobody talks about it?

Re: Yeti DNA proof / mermaid show on DSC
Many years ago I studied science at a reputable University in Sydney. The degree cost me a bomb. I studied Biology with a major in entomology. Part of the degree covered all of the basics with a fair amount of time spent on evolution. At the time I beleived it all despite being intrigued by the old testament stories of creation. Though at the time evolution seem to offer a more believable story i thought. Unitl I discovered later in life that many important fact had been completely overlook by the discipline. Discoveries made of human footprints amongst dinausors prints, skeletal remains amoungst sediments dated back well before the emergence of our species ect.
I was gutted to see that our so called intelectual elite are so narrow minded. The truth will come out. cause remember the eart was flat the the center of the universe not that long ago.

I thought that was odd too. Discovery Channel is not a consiracy theory network. For them to say they have proof of mermaids is a little odd. The video footage at the end looked like alien autopsy footage. The rest was pretty good, but I'm not buying the video.
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

I was suspect of that show because all the supposed scientists were all in front of the same background for the monologue. Normally, a independent videographer is hired at the location and it's done in office or home or some other interesting venue, not all on the same set.

Changed the title of the thread since I went and derailed it all by myself. Trolling my own thread, that cracks me up.

I don't see how the existence of sasquatch would conflict with the theory of evolution. It would just mean there's some relatives still around, it doesn't say whether they were created or evolved.
