What a quiet Halloween | |

On CBC, they were quoted saying the average Canadian Family this year will spend about $330 for Hallooween, including Candy, Decorations and Costumes! Most people don't have extra money for candy to give out to strangers. Most don't even have extra money to buy some candy for themselves. |

Also had incidents of razor blades in apples and pills put in with the Rockets. I go through all my children's candy. Of course it isn't 100% safe, just by sorting it out and looking at it, but it does help and I don't want them to fear HALLOWEEN because of some people trying to ruin it for others. |

Quoting: DOT 2 DOT It seemed it started going downhill back in the day when people were finding razor blades in apples, and they've become more and more distrustful since. It was a really huge deal when I was a kid too, up to 200 one year, a constant stream coming to the door, not any more. You know, parents tell their children not to talk to strangers or take food from them. Then they give them a mixed message by taking them to a stranger's house for food. If it is a community where people know each other then fine. But these days it is just not the prudent thing to do anymore. Take them to the shopping malls. It is safer especially with all the wackos and pedos out there these days. |

I was also shocked to see the numbers they came out with. I have a hard time believe them in some ways.. but in other ways I don't. It gets crazy here with Halloween, almost as bad as Christmas. |

I think we ended up going through three or four bags and had just a little bit left over. Still plenty of trick or treaters here. Oddly enough when my husband and I lived in a larger city in Minnesota we didn't get a single one. While I know most of the people there, and it's a bit of a PITA the way they do it, it IS safer overall for all the kids involved. Not that I'd let my year old wander by herself...but still. |
