Below is a link to a map of the sinkhole area. The traced red line overlaying the photo depicts the area and size of the slough in that was reported to us on yesterday afternoon.

I saw the video, it's what got me to dig deeper into this sinkhole incident. The information I posted here is what I found to be most intriguing. It's confirmation that BP Macondo well oil spill incident is connected now to the LA sinkhole. It has to do with Metahne Hydrate pocket being compromised by BP's deep water drilling. It is now releasing this Methane into portions of lower LA.

Great research on this thread.
posted this on another thread related to the saltdome/sinkhole.
It's too odd to be a coincidence.

Is there no solution? Granted, vested interests would have to acknowledge the problem first, but lets say it is acknowledged clear across the board--government, oil execs, scientists, citizens.

What are the possible interventions or repairs that could prevent mass doomage both in the short term and in the long term? Is there an anti-methane mineral or chemical? Or a way to capture and safely store the gas? Can we route it out of the atmosphere?

Just because the dinosaurs couldn't figure it out doesn't mean we cannot. Does it?

Lot's and lot's of venting will have to be done to try and alleviate the pressure. But venting on a massive scale.
 Quoting: El Quisqueyano

Okay. Let's do that, then. Who/where/how? Or is that already being done now? What's being covered up--the disease, or the cure?

They have to be careful with the drilling too. So my guess is that they are doing it but very slowly so as not to disturb the area further.

Louisiana residents should demand massive scale venting be done.

Gulf Stream Shift Linked to Methane Gas Escaping from Seabeds
The new work could reinvigorate a debate on the risk of methane release from the oceans and whether destabilized hydrates make the continental slopes more unstable

Here's some proof that the gas is escaping:

On October 17, a survey by undersea vehicles found "intermittent drops of oil" coming from an 86-ton metal cofferdam that BP attempted to lower onto the Macondo well in May 2010 to funnel the oil to the surface. BP engineers aborted the plan after methane hydrates, a flammable form of frozen natural gas, began collecting on the cofferdam. The cofferdam was abandoned on the ocean floor.

This is not merely a regional problem. This is a planetary problem, and it is a huge one. There are kilometer-wide seeps gushing methane into the atmosphere 24 hours per day off Svalbard. There are 4,000 SQUARE MILES of methane deposits melting off the East Coast.

Search google for this, with the quotes: "Alert: Clathrate Gun Is Firing"

Immediately off shore from New Orleans,LA there is a site of Gas Hydrate. Right in the same vicinity of the BP Macondo well oil spill. Could this be what has been breached and is now the cause of the bubbles and sink hole?

[link to pubs.usgs.gov]

You can see the red dot in the map. Dead smack in the middle of the area in question.

Excerpt;

Gas hydrates occur at many sites
along continental margins and in the Arctic
(fig. 1). Yet we know very little about
their composition, their volume, or the
best ways to exploit their resource potential.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
is investigating many aspects of gas
hydrates to understand their origin, their
occurrence, the factors that affect their stability,
and the possibility of using this vast
resource in the world energy mix.
 Quoting: El Quisqueyano

El Q, while I admire your tenacity, this is a little late in the game. I had already discussed this exact scenario with family members, and warned them of the dangers of drilling thru methane hydrates. Not just the enormous amount of pressure involved, but also their structure. Methane hydrates are lattice-like structures that are formed when methane/water freeze, sometimes at temperatures well above 32 degrees due to pressure. As you can imagine there is significant pressure where these hydrates form. Once you drill into these hydrates you essentially are relieving pressure and exciting the methane, on top of breaking down these lattice-like structures. Once this cycle starts, the only logical way to stop it is to expose the remaining hydrates to at least the same pressure and temperature.

As you can imagine, a little hard to do once this process starts. Who would have thought that we would be feeling the effects of the Deep Water Horizon so long after the incident?

I know this may sound wrong, but I am hoping for a sub-surface earthquake to heal the damage that BP has caused. It is the only power I can think of that can contain that amount of pressure and energy. It has done it for eons. So I have no doubt that it can contain it.

I just hope when the quake comes that it is not devastating, and people learn from it.

Methane hydrate extraction is a technology that should not be put to use for decades. The energy they contain is just too much for human kind to handle presently.

Kudos for this post!

I have done some reading on this topic.

In this version (we are discussing) the methane combusts.

Previous versions have the methane become the super greenhouse gas, raising tempatures in a cascading chain reaction (oceans get warmer, more methane released, oceans get warmer etc...).

The end game in this scenerio is an average surface air temp of 160 degrees F, no ice caps, high water, no surface vegiation, & that last item cascading up the food chain to an ELE.
