Halloween Candy - my kids are going to be wired for weeks!

My kids are bouncing off the walls right now!

Mine are, thankfully, sound asleep. We cut the eating of candy off about a half hour before we headed home, that way, by the time we got here, got them in the bath, pjs, etc....they sugar high wore off and they pretty much crashed =)

I call dibs on the BabyRuths.

Probably a couple weeks-ish. Yes me and hubby will probably have some, and my kids will get their share of course, but def. not all of it - even if I just gave them a little each day, its a LOT! haha.

Haha, you'll have to fight my 22 month old for those. He fell in love with Reeses from Halloween last year (it was his first time having candy actually last year, his first candy ever was Reeses I mean), and aever since last year whenever he sees Reeses he just KNOWS what it is and wants it, haha.

Yup, 3 boys. I'm def. always kept on my toes with them, but I wouldn't have it any other way. <3

My kids cleaned up as well and were pretty much on a high fructose corn syrup rush for the 3 hours. The crash was not fun.

Now I have to find a way to hide their stash. God I love Halloween

lol, oh yes this sounds familiar. As I said above, we cut the candy off awhile before coming home, so by the time we got here they were def. crashing, but the it was worth it because they fell asleep fast and are sound asleep now.

After sorting through it all, I put their candy in a couple plastic grocery bags and am keeping it in my room (me and my hubby's room has a lock on it. Wasn't like that when we moved here, but buying a lock/key for the door has proven to be a wise investment, haha). My kids are pretty good though - they know the drill after Halloween: they can have a certain amount each day. If they eat it all at once and have none for later on in the day? Oh well....that's their choice, but they don't get anymore. They've learned to space it out =) Of course, I give a little more the first couple of days - they gotta have some to bring to school just like the other kids do.

Haha.. I only took my 3 year old to a few houses. What little he has left is just going in a jar in the pantry. Its nice having younger ones that are easier to hide things like that from.

Yes that is very true! But, now my older two are 8 and 5- not so easy anymore, haha.

What handsome boys you have! My son decided to be Captain America and my daughter a Racoon. This year Halloween was quiet in our neighbourhood. So many houses with lights out and only 7 kids at our door!

We allowed ours to have two treats , then brush teeth twice and bed at 8:30. We are now enjoying some wine and coffee crisps at the fire, with LOADS of candy left.

It was a really quiet Halloween where we are!

Same here - we live in a very small town, but friendly people. Some people here take their kids to neighboring towns too, but we're fine just staying here. By the time we cover it all, or most of it, it's plenty =)

I did my fun stuff saturday night...went through a not-so-scary haunted house with my 3 year old. Went through twice, actually. Only $1 each time and we did pretty well for candy. He doesn't like candy though...weird ass kid...

That's what we should of done! Good advice. We cut them off about an hour after they got home. Oops! They are finally in bed and starting to crash. You have cute kids by the way. My six year old daughter went as "Abby-Bominadable", and my four year old son went as the Hulk.

I live in Iowa and we had two Halloweens this year. Last night was beggars night in Manson, and Halloween tonight in Fort Dodge. My wife and I are freakin exhausted!

Some kids don't =) We went to one house tonight - a young boy was helping his mom hand out the candy and his mom told us he has never wanted to go trick or treating. We went to a Halloween Party at my 8 and 5 year olds' school this past Saturday. The kids could wear costumes, they had lots of games and activities, etc. Each kid received a bag full of goodies, but very little candy in them - instead it was pencils, stickers, glow sticks, etc. Had a few people tonight giving out stuff like that tonight too instead of candy. I think that's a good idea. =)

Amy....I don't mean to rain on your kids parade but all that candy is made with Genetically Modified Sugar. Take all that candy, walk over to the garbage, and DUMP IT!!

That's nothin'! My kids came home with way too much, then bitch and complain when I initiate the "daddy tax". I used the democratic redistribution of wealth explanation on em like the guy in the video from an earlier thread. They too disagree with that approach. haha
