I'm speaking about D.C. and its suburbs. Certainly, rougher climates would have faired differently, but what's unfathomable to me is how much things have changed in the same area in this regard. And, of course, the idiocracy accept it without a thought, like the brainwashed sheeple they are. The excuse is inevitably, "there are far more people now." Yes, and there should be more workers, and trucks, to handle those people's power. And the technology should be much better. Many power lines are underground now (and why aren't they all?) My lines are underground, and yet last summer, we lost power for over 3 days following a simple thunderstorm that tptb instantly labeled a "derajo" or something, a term which had heretofore never been known. Again, we are now a Third World country. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26476073 for some... especially some GLPers, some other truth movement people there in NYC, east coast etc... Lots of good people everywhere, some bad but you know. I wouldn't put it past TPTB to use their new EMP missiles they just tested this month.... on some of the power grids, just to see how they would do, against our grid, as an excuse to say it was the storm Sandy. I could definitely see that. |

WeAreSlaves User ID: 11198781 Canada 11/01/2012 02:49 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Evem thirty years ago, these kinds of lengthy power outages were unheard of. In the Washington, D.C. area, we never lost power for more than a few hours, no matter what kind of meteorological catastrophe occurred. Then, in the mid- 1990s, large snowfalls suddenly had the power to knock out power for days, even weeks at a time. Funny, these snow storms never effected power before. Quoting: sci fi girl Now, before a HAARP-produced extravaganza like Sandy, or Frankenstorm, officials routinely warn citizens there WILL be power outages, and to expect them to last for several days. No public official, from local to Congress, ever criticizes the horrific job the power companies do routinely now. The msm certainly doesn't question their gross incompetence. This is all part of our training, so that we respond like Pavlovian dogs, to the bleak austerity measures they have in store for us. Maybe the t.v. show Revolution is more prophetic than we think. Maybe they will eventually take us all off the grid. Rolling blackouts, constant shortages of everything- you know, the typical Third World stuff. We are living in a Third World country now, so get ready to enjoy it. Warning : The post above may be pure speculation. Thread: The 2024-2025 Crypto Bull Market Thread |

I have plenty of food/water/batteries/candles. The most annoying thing is that yesterday our lights came back on for 5 seconds before the sky lit up and we heard the noise of another transformer blowing - lights off again. Random small sections of my town and surrounding towns have power but many people do not. I hear there is a real gas shortage with people traveling all over the place looking for gas and also generators. My downstairs neighbor had to drive 90 min each way to find a place with generators available. Lots of people looking to find gas stations and very long lines at the ones that are open. |

sci fi girl User ID: 395654 United States 11/01/2012 03:33 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My point is Baby Boomers grew up without their families having to have a "plan" in case of emergency. Yes, in the 50s and early 60s, we had the nuclear scare and fallout shelters, but by the mid-1960s, nobody was stocking up on supplies in case of a weather emergency. You kept candles, and a few flashlights, in case of a brief power outage. Now, there is no question- the officials tell the public ahead of time that there WILL be massive, lengthy power outages. Prepare, sacrifice, comrades! At the very least, local officials should be grilling power companies relentlessly about these long power outages, and ought to bring up the examples I've cited from decades before. It makes absolutely no sense that the utility companies would have been better equipped to handle these things long ago. Also, what's with all the downed trees in storms now? I grew up in a house with huge trees all around, and 150 acres of woods behind our house. I never, not once, saw a large tree blown down or struck by lightning. Now, every storm, in our neighborhood alone, you see big trees downed everywhere, and usually at least one crashing in to someone's house. During Sandy, they actually claimed the waterlogged ground had caused some huge trees to fall! Why doesn't anyone question these things? We never used to have this many exteme weather situations. I suspect it's a combination of HAARP orchestration and the typical "how not to get it done" incompetence on the part of the power companies and our illustrious officials. |

They were calling for 6+ inches of rain but we hardly got any! Less than an inch maybe? They were way off about that. But we did get the 80+ mph wind gusts and it was a little unnerving listening to the wind roar in the darkness of the night waiting for the sound of a nearby tree to snap. Lots of downed trees and power lines everywhere. The dog is doing fine. First night with no power he was looking at me like I was responsible for all the lights being off, lol. He sleeps on my bed and I took a fleece blanket and wrapped him up in that to stay warm. I took a cute photo of him but can't upload while I'm stuck on my phone. Thanks for inquiring. |

Wow, you didn't get much rain . . . I know virtually nothing about NJ, but my impression was that the entire state was flooded to some extent. Bet you're glad your area was spared of that . . . but 80 mph winds are scary and can do a lot of damage. Glad your dog is fine! Yeah, he's no doubt confused a little - such things affect them . . . whenever I'm watching these reports, I'm always thinking "are the animals ok?!" . . . bet he's warm and comfortable - kudos for looking out for him! Take care. |
