Ok My Final Update for the Night...

Coloniel Pipeline: Apparently Open adding 15% of the normal supply. Uncertain of ability to offload onto trucks.

Cargo Ships: 1 Container ships have moved into Port Elizabeth. Interestingly, it appears not to be lined up with the Cranes if you switch to Satelite View. 1 More is on the way to Port Elizabeth as well.

Oil Tanker Ships: Though there are 4 in the Harbor, All are anchored and not heading to the docks.

Trains: CSX and Norfolk Southern are Still showing that they are cutoff from NJ Terminals/Port Elizabeth.

[link to www.marinetraffic.com]

[link to shipcsx.com]

[link to www.nscorp.com]

Even if the container ships dock up at Port Elizabeth, nothing is going on those trains yet. As well, nothing is leaving on those Boats...from the trains yet.

They have diverted multiple ships to Boston, VA and other areas.

BayWay Refinery is still down and may have been damaged enough to keep it closed for 4-6 weeks.

Now for a few Guinness. Hang in there everyone in NYC/NJ.

For new Viewers.

The two Boats that have docked are APL CORAL and APL SARDONYX.

All of the others that are in the Ports were there prior to the Storm. it has now been 6-7 days since any ships docked in NY Harbor/New Jersey.

TOO ANYONE IN THE AREA OF NY HARBOR...

We need to get photos of the Docks and Ports.

Thread: Sandy from the South Shore Long Island - Just got power & Internet back. Here's the REAL DEAL

Whatever info you can gather that is factual.

Clearly people are in the dark about info and the whole thing is being mishandled, supplies are short, etc.

Pull it together folks and post here please.

Re: Supply Chain Disruptions from Sandy-PLEASE REPORT- NY, NJ, CT, PA,
A short while ago, I spoke with a very close friend who really does work for FEMA. Sounds like FEMA is very disorganized and still moving people around into position for various “missions”. He keeps being moved from city to city and has to find his own gas. He sounded very stressed out and even freaked out. Said NJ looks like post-Katrina in NOLA. Am so glad that I don’t need their help, that would put me in a world of hurting.

We stopped by a shelter and dropped off cans of coffee, batteries and bags of popcorn for the kids. There’s a lot of children in the shelters. Will go back in the morning to drop off more provisions.

Didn't respond to you in order. Sorry.

That is good intel and clearly FEMA still is as organized as Chaos Theory.

Keep feeding the Intel here. Thanks so much.

QUEEN EXPRESS an Oil Tanker has moved into the harbor but has stopped near the other 5 Oil Tankers in the Harbor.

This tanker came straight into the harbor, bipassing the others sitting out past Sandy Hook, NJ.

This may be screwing up Futures Contracts.

Regardless, The QUEEN EXPRESS has not moved to the Docks.

1. Either docks at All Oil Ports are damaged
2. Or they storage tanks are at capacity
3. Or there is no means to upload the Tankers.

Anyone with other thoughts or facts please comment.

80% of Gas Stations are out of Gas or have no power.

[link to video.today.msnbc.msn.com]

When the Power goes on, the situation will actually get worse because of the pent up demand and the lack of delivery to the Ports.

I have been able to buy gasoline for my generator the past couple days at my nearest gas station. Cash-only though, because their internet service is down. (Obviously, mine is up.) Before that I had to go a bit further but after the first day and a half or so, when I was using stored fuel, I've always been able to buy gasoline.

I am north of NYC in the suburbs, not right on the coast.

Broader Update on Ports.

It Appears NY Harbor is the only one effected in a major way as Philly, Baltimore, DC, RI, Boston all seem to have healthy Traffic.

As of this morning there are still no additional Ships at the Docks but there are 3 Container Cargo Ships on their way into the Harbor.

There were 4 Oil tankers in the Harbor but now the MISAKI is being diverted to Philly. This was one of the First Oil Tankers to be in the harbor so there must be something still wrong at the Docks of the Storage and Refineries in the Area. Also, Futures Contracts may be effecting this as well.

It does appear that one Tug Boat is lined up with the GLORY EXPRESS, an Oil Tanker but no movement yet.

[link to www.marinetraffic.com]

Both CSX and Norfolk Southern are still Cut Off.

We are now starting AT LEAST DAY 7 of zero Trains coming to their respective terminals. As I have mentioned before, I believe this is a much bigger problem because it has more to do with Food coming from the West rather than from the Ships.

Certainly now, with Airlines being concerned with refueling at Newark and JFK, planes will not be the ideal solution. It will have to be trucks most likely.

Can anyone in PA confirm Trucks still sitting idle?

Trains now.

Trains transport 70% of Containers across the US.

A few numbers.

One Double Stack Intermodal Rail Car: 4 TEUs
Truck: 2 TEUs

(Rough Average)Average Cars in a One Mile Train is 100. (400 TEUs)

A Panamax Container Ship fully packed is 5100 TEUs.

5100(Ship)/400(Train)= 12.75 Trains of 100 Double Stacked Intermodal Rail Cars.

Two Trucks per rail Car. so 400 TEUs x 2 = 800 Trucks per One Mile Train.

800 Trucks x 12.75 Trains =

10,200 Trucks to do the same job as a Train for every 5100 TEUs

Wow.

I don't know about you guys but I do not think there are enough Trucks to keep they supply chain going while the trains are down. That's 10,200 trucks IN and 10,200 Trucks out for every 5100 TEUs.

Holy Crap.

2011 Imports 2,683,689 TEUs/year

Simple Average though of course it seasonally changes:

7352 TEUs per day(365 day year) into NY Harbor.

Hmmm...

2,683,689/5100TEUs from above post = 526

10,200 Trucks per 5100 TEUs.

10,200 x 526 = 5,365,200 trucks for the yearly Imports

5,365,200/365 days = 14,699 Trucks per day

We need 14,699 Trucks per Day while the trains are down just to maintain the existing Imports before the storm.

These are just averages and obviously there are a ton of factors in play.

1. Docks are not fully operational
2. Trucks cannot even get into Port
3. You have to have the right trucks!
4. Countless other things

Reality is no matter when they fix not only the Docks but also the Rail Lines, we will have significant back log and bottle necks.

The things that were diverted away from the NY Harbor, will also require trucks to get to the area in some way, shape or form. Even if they Train to Philly, unload and Truck in, they don't have the Gas Supply for that many Trucks.

Re: Supply Chain Disruptions from Sandy-PLEASE REPORT- NY, NJ, CT, PA,
NORMAL = Trucks don't sit idling wasting gas. Trains dont sit idle waiting for trucks. Debris is rare and quickly cleared away. People feel no sense of panic, and do not clog up traffic routes, and empty fuel supplies in a panicked fashion.

What we have here is the opposite of normal, debris will take weeks to clear, trucks are idling with consumers clogging routes, taking all available gasoline. Trains are not meeting their loads and timetables, such a situation will worsen if not alleviated.

Each day of 'disruption' causes a weakening in the system to handle that disruption. Kinda like the classic scene with Lucy at the candy factory, the candy keeps coming but it doesn't matter because the system breaks down. If the candy stops, sure she can get a hold of things, but the NEEDS require the candy machine to flow even faster.

I won't say that this is full on doom, but if this were the "Street Fighter" video game, and the East Coast was Ryu, well, he just got hit by a severe Ha-Do-Ken and his health gauge is below half.

The weakness means further hits will not be received as well, therefore, yes, "ripe for disaster" is what I would call it.

Also it is due to years of JIT hypnosis, a diseased meme which this new generation of money-seeking gamblers called managers, have bought into. They have ruined America, these modern day businessmen with no sense. We need a modern day Joseph to take the ring of Pharaoh and order the nation to 'store up grain for seven years' because only such an event can cure the mental wrongness of this just in time modality. It's terminally vectored, and will surely destroy the nation eventually. What we need is warehouses and common sense people to stock them and dispense. But the anti-commies will never allow that to happen. We're fucked by anti-commies and fucked by commies. HA

I just drove from Maine ( where sandy brought us crazy 17' waves and 60mph winds) to the south, I filled up in Mass and agin in Ct as I heard that there were gas shortages. And I took 84 to 81 to avoid the city. There was no gas available at any of the 4 stations i stopped at on 84- just long lines of confused alarmed people w 60 people in line at subway and other food joints, but plastic bags on the gas nozzles and no gas signs in the windows of the stations. It was the same story at each stop, no gas, freaked people and more motorists stranded on the side of the hwy with no gas! I crossed into Pennsylvania with less than a quarter tank and saw a station w a line maybe 40 cars in line, cops at the station. Attendants pumping 15 gal per car. It was freaky. The news hasn't reported how wide spread this issue is and will be for some time. And don't forget people are still missing trapped cold and hungry in staten island and there's another storm on the way... Weird and scarey times, y'all!

i live in mass. i work for a computer repair company and 2 of our parts suppliers were out of new jersey, one is not open any longer obviously, and the other lost their warehouse out in new jersey so now they are scrambling to get parts out of a warehouse in texas, which is good they have backup but it creates more costs for shipping for us and them and ultimately customers, and im sure other businesses and industries will be feeling this already with any suppliers they had in the affected areas.

Their website says they are in NJ:

Fuel Relief Fund is responding to the Hurricane Sandy disaster and has a loaded fuel truck
containing gasoline and diesel in New Jersey.

Fuel Relief Fund is on location in Hoboken, New Jersey about two blocks from City Hall.
Within an hour, of setting up there, over two hundred people were in line to receive the free fuel.

That's all I can tell you.

For those readers who want more information on Fuel Relief Fund:

I found the site from a newspaper article, tracked it down. I figured that if the newspaper was covering it, it was legit.
