NY HARBOR UPDATE

So the Storm hasn't stopped anything. Right now we have two more Container Ships coming in. One of them, BUSAN EXPRESS is a Panamax.

8721 MAX TEUs.

Only two more container ships sitting out in the staging area right now.

One Oil Tanker Docked in NJ with a maximium of 10,000,000 gallons of goo, so it is starting to trickle in a little more.

Sadly, Trains are still Cut Off though.

From Waterlily's found article:

"The shipping lanes have mostly reopened, except for a few areas around Arthur Kill south of the Goethals Bridge, and Bay Ridge and Red Hook channels, said Justin Ward, spokesman for the Army Corps of Engineers."

As of Saturday, container vessels weren't yet allowed to wait for the terminals to reopen. "If you don't have an approved berth, you can't come in and sit for a week and wait for something to open," Ward says.

They really have diverted to a lot of places:

Philly, Halifax(Canada), Baltimore, Norfolk.

That will take some time to get it back to where it was origionally supposed to go and the trains still being down doesn't help.

Good find on the Products List Waterlily.

NEW YORK HARBOR UPDATE

It looks like Cargo ships are streaming in at a fairly good pace now. Still not a whole lot to the Brooklyn side of things but cargo supplies are getting in smoothly.

On the Oil Tanker side, only 2 tankers docked today at this point with a maximum of about 15m gallons of Goo. Still way below normal imports.

TRAINS ARE STILL CUTOFF

Moving onto DAY 12 now.

This article explains why I saw TWO pet supply trucks making deliveries today! Yay! Saw a bit more delivery trucks on the road today. But very few private cars. Someone told me at a shelter, that they have drivers and cars to transport donated items, but they need gas for the cars/trucks. It's a big problem for them.

Traffic on expressway 278 one of the main arteries in/out of Manhattan and Long Island has picked up going into the city...this evening was gridlock. But traffic going out of the city all day is very thin.

Per the article below: Commercial vehicles, emergency vehicles, buses and paratransit vehicles, medical doctor plates and vehicles licensed by the city's Taxi and Limousine Commission are exempt.

Bet it would help if cops stopped letting their relatives and friends cut to the front of the lines...

Govenor Cuomo is PISSED on tv right now...raising hell re: utility companies. Wants to review all of them involved...said they are not "God given monopolies".

Good man. I think the response on your side has been terrible. I am gaining a lot more respect for Cuomo. He defintely seems to be grabbing the bull by the horns while Bloomberg has tea Uptown trying to figure out how to keep his 16oz max Soda plan in place with all of this going on.

Ok so I was just cracking a joke here(above). I guess it is no joke.

Things should start moving on the carbo side of things so its good to see it translating to the streets.

Re: Supply Chain Disruptions from Sandy-PLEASE REPORT- NY, NJ, CT, PA,
Went to a few local stores today, in an area very hard hit by the storm. Here is what I learned: Stores that prepared (moved stuff to higher shelves etc.,.) didn't lose much inventory, and re-opened relatively quickly. One strip mall, four stores: Big food store opened about five days ago (they had a massive cleanup), small pizza place and drugstore opened last week. (They moved their stuff out of the way, saved most of their inventory). Discount store; didn't prepare and didn't start cleanup immediately. They are still closed, still cleaning and now have to deal with mold issues, so the EPA is involved in their cleanup.

My point BTW is this: We all had time to prepare for this. Some did, many didn't.
