88 People died in the storm and a number just narrowly missed death. Shouldn't Americans be sober instead of the excitement about elections?

you just had a narrow miss on almost a national level.

Dude, you need to google the U.S. --- it didn't even get close to the Mississippi River and half the country is west of the Mississippi --- so it was a "big" ass miss.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 364166

A big ass miss that you could control? But yet killed people that weren't expecting to die? The storm could easily have come your way or any other person's way for that matter. The nature of the unpredictability, uncertainty and lack of control of this storm is the real crux of the matter. It could have been worse and had it been worse would you still be worried about elections?
 Quoting: Ohwell

But this could happen any day so are you saying to NEVER do anything because a disaster might happen?

No, there is a set date for the general elections and they will be held then. Period.
One of the most important aspects of conspiracy theories is being able to discern when there isn't one.

Oh yeah, like you'd understand anyway.

Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?. . .J. Handy

You only say this because you have predicted over and over that there wouldn't be any elections and martial law would be declared.

Now that elections are so close, and no martial law and cancelled elections, you must resort to shilling for us to willingly want to delay elections....

You are aware that there are NO government personnel or agencies that have the right or authority to cancel, postpone, or change any federal elections. Even if the president wants to, demands to change the election to another date, he can NOT do it. It would take an act of Congress, and then two-thirds of the country's states to accept the change, and all of this would have to be prepared and accepted in advance.

There are times when some people will go to almost any length to get their way. But very few actually have the law to protect them. The law is very strict about what is allowed and what isn't. Any usurper of the law can not stand against the will of the people.

Again, I don't predict. I give an opinion based on looking at the direction something is heading. So far, my prognosis of the situation has been very close to what is playing out in reality.

If only I limited my thoughts only to seeing an event which changes the political landscape that puts Obama in the public eye and Romney in the back burner, I'd be a star by now but I am not interested in that. But I went even further to state reasons why I believe Obama will remain your president. Do you disagree with those reasons? Give your reason why you disagree. Don't come out and say some people are making blind predictions.

If anything, you should be intrigued and even commend me for trying to see, and paint a scenario 10 days ago, long before I even saw a storm coming, and that scenario bears eery similarities to what we are watching play out in reality.

I am not excited for being right. It equally affects every one on this planet if evil succeeds.

OP is a total idiot who has very little knowledge of American history. In 1864 this country was involved in a devastating civil war yet the party that nominated Lincoln managed to hold a 2 day convention and an election, disrupted as it was, proceeded as planned.

Granted that Sandy was a tragedy, but when OP renders an "opinion" that the circumstances indicate that the USA is insane for going through with the electoral process only demonstrates his lack of intelligence in formulating a valid viewpoint.

Over 1000 Americans die EVERY day from tobacco related illnesses. Although indeed sad, I don't think 88 over a several day period is something to go into mourning about.

My argument is about the present and morality of actions. Your argument is about historical indoctrination. Am I a fool for disbelieving what transpired on 9/11 or are you that fool for believing it and every other historical stuff shoved into you?

If future generations go by this falsified history, what sort of generation are you raising? I believe its clear just by that simple explanation who needs to rethink their ways.

Oh my, you will learn your lessons in this life or the next that you cant have this kind of attitude regardless of what is imposed on you. That you cant leave a fallen brethren behind and that you cant live in this world alone.

Its sad the world is in such a state. You need to change your mind set about life. Good luck.

Let's follow the trail of thought of 9/11 into the future. It is Mainstream belief that the event was carried out by Alqaeda. 100 years from now, your children taught in schools will believe this nonsense. So even though you claim to stand for truth, its just a fiction of your imagination. I cant say more because you dont understand.

Re: 88 People died in the storm and a number just narrowly missed death. Shouldn't Americans be sober instead of the excitement about elections?
It is very ridiculous for anyone to want to take part in this election especially after just barely escaping with their lives in this storm. The country barely escaped death and the next thing on the people's minds is their ritual? Stop this madness and let the world see that you are sane people.

After all, the storm was a game of probabilities and there was possibly no way of determining the trajectory or its implications. It could have been you who died in that storm. Or did you know enough about the storm that it wont hit you or you engineered it in such a way that it would hit, do some damage but you would still have room to have your elections? Perhaps you negotiated with nature and hope to still do if it decides to show its fury on the day of the elections?

For all you know, vast areas of the country could have been submerged or wiped out and the mere thought of that should make you pause and reflect on what just happened and how you could have been dead at the time you least expected most instead of running along for another election circus.

This storm has been a national test for all Americans to see if they will have feelings and respect for themselves, their lives and that of their fellow men. Even if your leaders are stringing you along, you all should say NO that you need to reflect on what just happened and not get excited with your change of clothes. You could have been dead and you should be thankful at this point.

You just had a close encounter with death and indeed some did die. Would anyone of these people crying about elections or even their politicians still do so if they were among the dead or lost someone close to them? Continuing in this election is complete disrespect to oneself, their fellow country men and complete disregard for the lives lost. It is recklessness at the very least and the path you are on could only lead to destruction.

Assuming this storm was even natural, how did you know that nature didn't intend on wiping out a huge chunk of the US? Or where you able to tame nature so that it could do it's thing but still leave room for you to have your election? You barely escaped with your lives and the next thing you want is your election. You guys should be sober now and stop your leaders from killing you all. The next storm that comes around might just not be gentle and wipe a substantial portions of the population out. Or would you be able to control the trajectory of that too? I wish you all the best.

You still dont get it. This is a charade.

I cant make you see if you cant see the obvious stuff in front of you.

It's very simple actually.

You and other paranoid fear mongers said elections would be cancelled.

I said your crazy

You said just watch

Now they are going on and are not cancelled.

knockout

Let me ask you first who you support in this election. If whoever you support loses, what would that mean to you? I'm sure there must be a reason why you feel strongly for that candidate?

Now, get this. The day isnt over yet and the results which you so much anticipate isnt out. What you are witnessing is just a charade which is of no value.

But since you must be told, there is no joy in what you are doing. You are being led down the path of destruction and you will get it. I promise you the results of your election will not see the light of day. It will be the most messy stuff you ever engaged in going forwards.

You're moving the goal post...

No I'm not. Its an election, isnt it? Are you saying that just by participating ensures an outcome? I say your election will no longer matter in face of so many circumstances you feel you are invisible from.

Such that at the end of it all you will ask why you ever bothered participating in something that now wont matter and didnt make sense. Already it is proving not to make sense with people giving up because of deteriorating conditions, incoming storm, long queues etc. Are you watching the news. At the end of it all, it will be irrelivant aka cancelled.

Just the point I'm trying to make that if it all a pointless exercise, why bother? There are more serious issues than an election.

its only a few states that got hit, what about the other 45 states that were uneffected?you are blowing it out of porportion, you would make a terrible king.

Hmmm, so you are saying in essence that you knew all along what nature intended to do? That it wouldnt touch you but its ok if it killed the other guy?

What number would be ok for you to stop elections?

10, 20, 30, 40 States? Heck, what if the whole 50 states got hit? That would do, wouldn't it?

The fact that he made the statement about you being a "terrible king" means AMAZING THINGS about your character.

Take it as a compliment. wink

I tried to give you a positive Karma vote, but, evidently...I already gave you one earlier this week. Oh well...

Thank you so much serenity. You are appreciated.

Its amazing people have to be told these things about feelings and respect for themselves and others.

I think they will have to be made to go through conditions that will make them realise this,
