Well, if you were carrying something from the coffee shop, you may have decided to not put your wallet back into your pocket until you got the thing out of your hand. When you got in the car you laid it somewhere funny as you were putting the coffee shop stuff away, then you forgot about it.

The wallet fell someplace in the cracks of the car, or inside wedged in the seat.

No I guess someone definitely took it :( I really hope it turns out okay - my social insurance number is in it ... Thank you for the concern!

I wanted to buy something in the coffee shop and i found out it wasn't in my backpack. But the thing is it couldn't have fallen out when I got out of the car because I parked right in front of the shop and my friend was sitting facing the window and she didn't see anything fall out otherwise shed tell me :/ so my guess is it fell out when we were sitting. I have a stupid backpack - it closes on one strap that has a magnetic button that closes it --- so it often opens without me seeing it. So when I hung it on the chair to sit down it might have opened and fell out and someone picked it up afterwards. I was just really hoping that person would give it to the cashier

Just educate him (as you started to do, but then stopped in order to post your pic) and be done with it, content that you did your part to spread information and education to others.
