Long-Term Unemployment Rises in October to 40.6%
The long-term unemployment rate rose to 40.6 percent in October, up from September’s level of 40.1 percent of the total unemployed...

Long-term unemployment is unemployment lasting for 27 consecutive weeks or longer, according to BLS.

The government reported that just over 5 million people were unemployed for more than six months...

Long-term unemployment has remained elevated since the end of the recession in 2009. In January 2009, when President Obama took office, there were 2.7 million long-term unemployed Americans. By August of that year – after the recession had ended in June – that number had crossed the 5 million mark.

Re: Long-Term Unemployment Rises in October to 40.6%
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported last Tuesday that employers issued 1,316 “mass layoff actions” (affecting 50 workers or more) in September; more than 122,000 workers were affected overall. USA Today financial reporter Matt Krantz wrote that “(m)uch of the recent layoff activity is connected to what’s been the slowest period of earnings growth since the third quarter of 2009.” Some necessary restructuring is underway in response to the stagnant European economy. But more and more U.S. businesses are putting the blame — bravely and squarely — right where it belongs: on the obstructionist policies and regulatory schemes of the blame-shifter-in-chief.

The religion of submission cannot survive an open and honest discussion of its convoluted and foolish scriptures, its sexually perverted terrorist prophet, or its deceitful and demented god. When Western leaders become unified and resolute in their hostility to Islam's violent and ungodly beginnings, Muslims will flee the religion because they will be horrified by its endorsement of terrorism, mass murder, slave trading, plunder, kidnapping, and rape.

If Muslims & their apologists really want to cure "Islamophobia," here is an easy way. Focus their indignation on Muslims committing violent acts in the name of Islam, not on non-Muslims reporting on those acts.

The MSM tried to sell this as a positive this morning, this and the rise in unemployment to 7.9%

They said it meant that more people who had been out of work were regaining hope and looking for work again...

Eurozone unemployment hits record high

Unemployment rates within the euro area vary dramatically from one country to the next. Spain, with its sluggish economy, has the highest unemployment rate of 25.8%, followed by Greece at 25.1% and Portugal at 15.7%.

On the other side of the spectrum, Austria has the lowest rate at 4.4%, followed by Luxembourg at 5.2%, and Germany and the Netherlands at 5.4%.

I heard differently. I heard it's because "more people came in to the workforce." On a side note, I also heard that hurricane Sandy will increase GDP in the first quarter of next year, because of all the jobs it will create. Because, you know, depleting savings or borrowing money to rebuild what you already had makes one wealthier. Gotta love the Broken Window Fallacy and the MSM.

Kudlow said the rebuilding/recover from Sandy would be a long-term negative as assets are being replaced, not real and productive growth of producing assets.

Re: Long-Term Unemployment Rises in October to 40.6%
Here are some hard-core facts, whether an Obama supporter likes it or not:

1. There isn’t a single company or corporation in America or anywhere in the world, big or small, across all industry lines, who, if going through tough times would hire Barack Obama over Mitt Romney to give them the discipline, guidance, structure and accountability they would need to give them the best chance to save their business and turn things around.

[...]

3. There isn’t one single company in America whose current liberal elite owner or CEO or Boards of Directors who contribute money personally and/or corporately to Barack Obama for their own self-interest, or go out on the campaign trail with him and support him publicly—whether it’s the lap dog Jeff Immelt at GE, or any of the Hollywood elite studio heads like Harvey Weinstein—who would hire Barack Obama over Mitt Romney to take the helm of their companies, either in good times or in bad, at any time in this lifetime or any other under any circumstances whatsoever.

{...]

It’s time to grow OUR capital and shrink the capital in D.C.

It’s time to replace the ‘cool’ with ‘competent.’

It’s time to trade in the Lightweight for a Leader.
