Re: keeping warm with no power
Good suggestion. I guess it would keep body heat in a smaller space.

You can use also Newspaper,
just put it in between your clothes!

The best is, of course, Alu-Foil!

Re: keeping warm with no power
take an empty Tin coffee can and burn a candle inside- Puts off a great deal of heat.

Living in the North we keep these items in a car- If trapped during a snowstorm it will keep the entire car warm.

How to stay warm -

Layer your clothing, wear tights or long johns, and a snug undershirt, layer a wool or fleece top, preferably snug to the body, a couple of pairs of sweats and socks. Mittens or gloves on the hands.

Make sure there are no gaps to expose skin. Tights or long johns are tucked into your socks and shirt is tucked into your bottoms. Plunk a warm hat on your head.

Viola, pretty soon you will be steaming in your own body heat.

Works for me at -40, should work for those without power.

Thermals. So warm, and light. Can be worn for several days before needing to be washed.

The best is always newspaper. Stay away from candles. they'll either choke or burn you to death.

Take care.

Newspaper next to skin cover your whole body, keeps the heat in. If outside use a cardboard box with news paper for insulation and cover most of the top of the box, leave some room for air flow

Re: keeping warm with no power
Take a large plastic garbage bag, turn upside down. Cut a hole in the bottom seam, not too big, just enough to get over your head. Cut holes on sides near top just enough to get your arms through. Slip over like a big oversized shirt. It will at least help keep your body warm. No mittens? Socks work real good. Just cut a tiny hole for your thumb. When you need to, pop it out to hold things then pull back in to stay warm.
