I'm all for benefits helping those in need, and many here in Nashville did sort of the the same during our flood of 2010. That said, I don't recall anything as well organized and star studded as this for any other natural disaster. Did they do anything like this for Katrina? I will also be interested in how much of the money collected goes to relief - I hope that every dime does, but I'd pay close attention if I were one of the affected.

One other interesting observation. I just watched Billy Joel perform a perfectly choreographed song specific to the aftermath of the storm. Pretty amazing how someone could write something so complete so shortly after the disaster. Just a thought, but it makes me wonder if this storm wasn't somehow planned as so many here believe.
