I personally am an atheist so I wouldn't really be following any idols. Unless you consider any symbol an idol. Well I am a huge patriots and bruins fan so I guess I am going to hell for that one there because I am following a false idol.
Everytime I take a religion test, I actually line up 100% with the Jews. And they don't believe in hell. So I certainly don't fear oblivion if that is what you mean by it.
If you mean oblivion is the cessation of existence I don't fear that either. I meditate on death everyday and have come to accept it as a natural part of life. In fact I welcome it, because death gives my life meaning.
