Marijuana Causes Death | |
| stars User ID: 17867407 11/03/2012 12:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I read somewhere that due to heavy manufacturing of cannabis people can die during an overdose on pot (without any other drugs). This was shocking because I was under the impression that not even the long term effects of marijuana caused death. Quoting: The Gypsy Opinions? The Gypsy. If you live life your entire life on earth, this causes death also. Maybe we shouldnt be here.? party on dude. Last Edited by stars on 11/04/2012 08:14 AM stars |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24002333 It is in no way a fact that it causes the death of an individuals intelligence. I personally have been smoking mj for more than half of my life, and have still continued my education, and remain very well spoken and full of free thought. The assumption that it dampens a persons intellect is an urban legend, and a crutch for stupid, lazy people. They choose to not learn, or do anything productive with their lives, and blame it on pot. In reality, even without pot, they would be idiots and a blemish on modern society. Also, a lot of the 'studies' done involve subjects who not only smoke marijuana, but also intake a plethora of other substances. Many of the 'other' drugs to which people claim pot opens the gateway DO damage brain functions. Look at a 'huffer'... they DO suffer damage and become dumber. Also, while touching base on the 'gateway' thing. Pot isn't so much a gateway, the propaganda behind pot is the gateway. The government has saturated the school systems and all drug education with the false knowledge that pot is evil. They convince people that if they do enjoy smoking weed, they are criminals and druggies, and many of them figure if they're living the druggie, criminal life, they might as well enjoy it ALL. There are millions of potheads out there though who have never done another drug. They realize that pot is not a drug, and also that other things WILL harm them. I myself have never tried cocaine, crack, heroin, meth, etc. I have smoked weed religiously for almost 2 decades and have never had a desire to 'gateway' into harder things. So on behalf of all intelligent stoners worldwide, leave us the hell alone! There is no overdosing on pot. It doesn't lead to crime. It doesn't have to blossom out into a whole criminal element. Let us be peaceful, karma driven humanitarians like we strive to be. Thank you. =) It should be legal, It would get us out of national debt. There was a time were it was illegal not to grow because of its many uses, back in the George Washington days. If you owned a piece of land, you grew weed. stars |

Marijuana was listed in the United States Pharmacopeia from 1850 until 1942 and was prescribed for various conditions including labor pains, nausea, and rheumatism. Its use as an intoxicant was also commonplace from the 1850s to the 1930s. A campaign conducted in the 1930s by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Narcotics (now the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs) sought to portray marijuana as a powerful, addicting substance that would lead users into narcotics addiction. It is still considered a "gateway" drug by some authorities. In the 1950s it was an accessory of the beat generation; in the 1960s it was used by college students and "hippies" and became a symbol of rebellion against authority. [link to www.narconon.org] |

You cannot, though, die from any cannabinoids or other constituent compounds that are naturally occurring in cannabis. there are unnatural additives from things like fertilizers and other chemicals for growth and control, but the acute effects of those chemicals wouldn't be damaging enough to kill you. long-term smokers may get ailments and may end up dying from the ailments. the ailments arise not from anything in the cannabis but from the vehicle you are using to receive those compounds, the smoke. people who eat and vaporize herb really have nothing to worry about, save for keeping their head on straight to exist in society. |
