Discernment Comes With Maturity And Experience
It can be said that being able to tell fact from fiction, value from insignificance, and good from evil is a rarity, if even possible. Truth is often relative to the one perceiving it, and as a result, differing perceptions lead to differing interpretations, which inevitably leads to conflict.

However, when conflict is regarded as a simple misunderstanding of another's perception, or refusal to contemplate a differing perspective, then a resolution to that conflict is not beyond our grasp. Humility is necessary to understand a differing perspective, and without it, you stop learning, and most likely stop living (both literally and figuratively).

If we can learn to approach each other with an open mind and clear intentions, then our ability to understand each other and all that is around us becomes much easier. We learn to set aside our bias and judgment, and we simply feel. That is a state of mind and point of existence we all should desire to achieve.
"Be still, and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10

Truth needs no validation because it is self-evident and undeniable. Therefore, anything that requires validation to be realized or justified as truth must contain at least some degree of falsehood.

Yes, i think that took great humility to do that. I've been reading the Gospel according to Mark again. Several of his miracle stories show people who have completly humbled themselves before God.

I believe that is a common characteristic throughout the New Testament, and possibly one of the most valuable lessons taught by Jesus.

Just what I needed, thanks for the timely reminder OP.

The message left two thousand years ago qualifies the subject title. We, as a global society, are on the precipice of maturity. We had experienced two millenia of ignorance and intolerance and are about to come into realization of the message of unconditional love, the basis of the Golden era, the shift to evolutionary light speed.

Well fine if you are discussing a matter of civil policy i suppose, but when the 'other' has no intention of being open minded, but is fixated upon subjugating you, as in say Islam or Communism for instance - your open mindedness and tolerance is simply a weakness that will be mercilessly exploited by a predatory mind.

That is why you need discernment to know when something is evil and needs to be fought tooth and nail.

Re: Discernment Comes With Maturity And Experience
words that speak of the same point:

"However, the canon "By thy god" must be applied in life, practically on every step. During each conversation, when there is no unity of consciousnesses, our first duty is not to infuriate our companion by contradiction and censure of his convictions, but, starting with his best possibilities and considering the level of his consciousness, we should gradually and patiently broaden his horizon. Thus, speaking with a Moslem, you will not begin by praising Lord Buddha or demeaning Mohammed, but you will interchange with him all that is beautiful in his religion, and when opportunity arises, you will explain more deeply and broadly the meaning of some sayings of Mohammed that have entered the treasury of world wisdom. Thus you will also do in any other situations in life. You will not speak with an avid chauvinist against his country, but you will discover the best expressions and qualities of his nation, and you will point out to him new ways for developing its particular qualifications. Your breadth of understanding of national beliefs will smooth over the factor of chauvinism and, unexpectedly for him, his limited consciousness will begin to respond to the note of containment. And so, one should learn to carry on timely conversations without animosity but evaluating your companion with friendliness. Precisely, carry them on with PATIENCE and respect for your adversary, not permitting irritation, derision, and other unworthy means. And in each conversation one should know how to sacrifice one's self, one's knowledge, and not to boast of one's enlightenment. Remember that it is said in the Teaching that only a pompous ignorance loves to spread on window sills the dry, small twigs of its knowledge, but he who truly knows does not fear to snip off a piece of his knowledge when it can oppress and humiliate his companion. In this manner, the canon "By thy God" is merely a manifestation of selflessness, without which nothing can be achieved. It is a great error to liken it to non-resistance to evil. If you wish, accept this canon as a manifestation of mercy. And so, the canon "By thy God" is fully compatible precisely with resistance to evil. One can put a stop to evil by various means, and straight-knowledge should prompt the limits of possibilities when applying the given canon."

What everyone here is missing from the plight of this post is realizing the lack of perspective(maturity) and experience in the face of too much information..... means we're screwed.

The information programing people cannot really replace real experience.
So as more and more information is convincingly pushed, divisions deepen. And makes you easily distracted and redirected.

in some people that is. you are right for a great majority, i'm afraid

The quantity of information pushed does not correlate to quality. While there are many out there that desire to mislead others for their personal gain, maturity allows you to recognize the truth when you see it. When you no longer allow others to instill fear in your heart, then you begin to resist manipulation and deceit. It's not always easy, but the lies are often recycled from previous lies that you've already uncovered - you must recognize the lie when you see it, it often has motive for company.

true friend. but you are aware i hope that the vast majority of so called 'mature' individuals totally failed to even start upon this process of discernment.

mental discernment, according to the actual biological capacity of a human being, should be a skill as common as talking.

but due to lack of proper education, in this spirit, the situation is dire :)

I agree, and as long as there is arrogance in the world, there will be ignorance along with it. I believe even without a proper education through traditional means, life will inevitably educate us. The question is how willing we are to learn :-)
