Thanks for the update. God bless and good luck.

Does anyone you've been in contact even care about the
Election and/or are having difficulty Voting?

I would imagine Voting might be the last thing on your mind ...
or maybe it's the first.

New Yorkers can vote by email or fax now.

LOL -- I'm sure they'd like to.

Instead, the rumor is that the
Obama campaign is casting proxy
votes on behalf of any New Yorker ...
in exchange for a one-liter bottle
of water.

guess you should have just prepared even slightly.

It is really not bad. At all.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26885986

Are you here on Long Island?

Things are going to get bad real fast. I am prepped but no one could have prepared for the gas shortage. I had 3 vehicles and six 5 gallons containers filled up BEFORE the storm. We did need to drive to work this past week and now need gas.

I am worried about the people with no power and it is going to get cold. Many people lost their heating system or it was destroyed from water.

You're going to the wrong areas for food and supplies.

I just came back from Commack, Deer Park and Northport which is just a 20-30 minute drive from the South Shore. Plenty of supermarkets open and packed with produce. Trader Joe's in Commack all stocked. The big shopping mall in Deer Park open, including the NY Sports Club. People were jogging on the treadmills and swimming in the pool.

Also got a full tank of gas two nights ago in Northport. Only two cars in front of me.

Thank you all for the kind words and wishes. I want to clarify my family and I are in a good place, warm and safe. I have plenty of bottled water, however we are bathing in the chlorine water.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26922019

Please be super careful with the bathing and drinking water, and avoid the standing water outside (if possible). Not meaning to be too doom-y but disease transmission is a serious concern.

Insurance will provide you temporary living if your house was completely destroyed. derp derp.

Its called preparing, but of course (I live here) I have to hear all the tards complain and cry about how Obama has to save them.

Didn't want to spend money on insurance when you live on the fucking coast or an island? Well then stfu and enjoy the streets.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14969347

Newsflash fucktard...

There is even devastation from this storm away from the coast. Even Central PA had power outages and curfews. WIDESPREAD DAMAGE.
 Quoting: Starry eyes

I live in Jersey where the eye hit you fucking tard.

If you prepared even slightly you are fine. Most people don't, then cry about it.

Sandy wasn't even a fucking hurricane anymore when it made landfall...

But a few 50 year old, poorly constructed homes got smacked down and now it is the end of the fucking world and people demand government to fix it all, feed them, house them, I have seen people demanding that government clothe their fucking children for school...

Its not like we were prepared for over a fucking week or anything. I was at Sams club the day before and not a fucker was in there buying anything, the place was loaded with supplies.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14969347

I think everyone's main concern is gas and food. Even if they prepped, there is probably a lot of flooded pantries.
 Quoting: Starry eyes

putin Yea, that is it... all the people complaining had plenty of food, just so happens their pantries were flooded and destroyed their canned food!

I had gas for the generator just so I could work the subpump, but guess what? I didn't need it. I don't live in a flood prone area and the rain wasn't bad.

It was mainly just wind, which yes, took down power lines. I had a tree fall and destroy my fence... the insurance is taking care of it. I just have to pay a $500 dollar deductible.

Since I didn't even have to run the generator, I have plenty of gas, already had extra to get to and from work, and I filled up the tank BEFORE HAND. Still didn't even need to use the extra just getting to and home from work.

Peoples whose homes were destroyed, were warned, and had mandatory evacuation orders 48 hours prior. They should have taken their supplies, went somewhere.

If there home was destroyed, if they have insurance, which of course they live in a coastal region or island and fucking should, then their insurance is paying for them to live in a fucking hotel currently.

Once again, I repeat, when sandy made land fall, it wasn't even a fucking hurricane.

There should have been 0 deaths from this but of course people are dumb.

wishing you all well. i too am dealing with having to go back and forth to my elderly and immobile dad/grandma 78/98 yrs old. it's getting cold. dh waited about 10 hrs total for gas in different gas stations just to get me gas to run around for my elderly family. had to do some insulating of the apartment. dad doesn't have a clue at the severity of this problem. no gas, i can't get them supplies unless i want to take a large shopping cart in the bus and ride for an hour and a half. sucks.

at this point the healthy and able bodied people should help those that cant, but no one helps my family over there. even the aide needs help.

take care op.

Hugs to you!

thanks for understanding.
 Quoting: Water Flower

hi Water Flower, love your name. I have an elderly mother who didn't want to leave her home about 30 minutes from here ( northern Delaware ). We did not get hit as hard as we feared and my mother was fine.

BUT . . it is really hard to have older people to care for.
They are so precious and at risk from cold, dehydration, people who might take advantage of them.

you and your family will be in our prayers, Water Flower.
I hope you stay warm, dry, and know that you are facing the test of a lifetime and doing well. Do not feel alone. I would love to come help you all, but I can't. If the local churches start some 18 wheelers like they did to Katrina victims, I will give A LOT.

God bless you, even in this situation.

I did prepare. More than most. I am an avid GLP'r. I have supplies. Honestly I didn't see the gas thing coming. I'm not going to power a generator just so my wife and kid can have a night light.

What I am seeing is it is bad ad getting worse for a bunch of people. It could have been avoided - but I really see TPTB seem to want this.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26922019

How on earth could it have been prevented??? If you know how to prevent storms and floods you are working the wrong job.

I'm pretty sure OP was saying the DISASTER could have been prevented if more people were prepped.

My situation is mild compared to most just a tad bit south and west of me. Some more strange things I have observed:

National Guard troops at a gas station just north of me.

Military Humvee Vehicles escorting a 500 gallon fuel oil tanker.

Cash Only everywhere! Even if they have power the cashiers are being told to only accept cash. Others have said you must pay cash at gas stations. No Credit/ATM accepted.

south shore nassau county here, still no power

drove my car today for the first time since Monday, to get new tires... to prepare for a possible getaway in the next day or two. Avoided burning any gas but there are nuts out there going stir-crazy and driving around for no good reason.

Have been avoiding the insane gas lines. The people standing in line are friendly, but the lines with cars are super tense.

I'm a prepper, survivalist so I'm dealing with the no power situation better than most who are cut off without their creature comforts.

Have only been traveling around by bicycle so haven't seen too much. So can't say how it is in all areas. I do hear sirens here and there and the constant hum of generators. I haven't seen any violence or craziness but I'm in a fairly peaceful town.

I will pray for guidance in the next few days as to whether I should get away from here, possibly to NEVER RETURN. Seriously.

GTFO and stay out. People with brains such as yours should know better than to be stuck in an urban area like that during a disaster, even a minor one.

I hear you. It's block to block good and bad in some cases. I am so close to utter devastation areas yet life goes on elsewhere.

FEMA announcing these creepy "Feeding Stations" situated nowhere close to where they are needed. All over the radio telling people to drive to them. I tend to believe FEMA is aware there is a gas shortage.

My wife spent the day out looking for gas. She gave up. It's just not that important right now.

I think the local government officials are focused on reelection and are over promising. And the Fed's are pushing misinformation left and right.

Someone asked about elections. I don't think anyone in NY, NJ, CT are focused on the elections at the moment. Obama made his appearance for the press in NJ and really left us New Yorker's feeling left out. Not a surprise from the president.

We have been cut off, out of the loop for days not knowing anything but what the local media on the radio had reported. Even getting power back we still have no TV. I just got Internet.

The damage in my town and the towns surrounding me is moderate to severe. Flooding is horrible and no one had power. But we survived and lucky to have more than most elsewhere.

Water is unusable and sewage treatment plants are down left and right. THE WATER SMELLS OF CHLORINE - SUPER STRONG!

Gas/food/supplies:
it is near impossible to get. On a normal day I travel 70 miles a day into Nassau County and points in between. I quickly ran out of fuel and still find it impossible to get gas. I refuse to play into this panic and wait online 3-4-5-6++ hours just to get $40 of $4.89 gas.

Everyone wants a generator. All over the radio talk about them here or there. No gas but run out and buy that generator.

Food stores are hit or miss. I really feel this is the next big crisis. No deliveries are getting in. Twice now I have gone out to restock the fridge with new food and found foul milk being sold at King Kullen and Stop & Shop!

Controlled Chaos:
The politicians are making things worse. Media is hand in hand creating panic. All day long on local stations all they have is folks calling in reporting who has and who has no gas. I'm sure you hear the stories. People lines up hours waiting at a closed station for some delivery that may or may not arrive.

For example, Governor Cuomo in all his infinite wisdom announces 10 gallons of free fuel in mobile stations parked in western regions of the affected area. Lines form and quickly they tell everyone its for EMS vehicles only. Mayor Bloomberg holds a news conference an hour later telling people to go get the free gas if they need it.

Employment:
Most everyone I know couldn't get to work on Friday. No gas. My job laid everyone off on Friday afternoon for all of next week. Calling it a work furlow just so you can't claim unemployment! So now people need to worry how the hell they are supposed to feed their family losing close to 2 weeks pay.

Look it's bad. Worst I've ever seen. Worse than Gloria back in the 80's and much much worse than the 70's gas crisis. Back then it wasn't chaos. IT IS COMPLETE CHAOS.

I have seen fights in the streets. Accidents and cars broken down on the side of the road no gas. Flooding came far inland, trees and power lines down all over. LIPA can not tell us when the power will be restored fully and the whole situation is about to boil over into a full scale breakdown of society.

I can see how they control the chaos. Slowly ratcheting it up and now whipping it up into a full scale frenzy.

I know this is normal for a crisis such as this but hold on folks. I see it getting much worse yet! This was more than a "Hybrid Storm". It was the start of it all! I am sure of it.

Just needed to vent and let you guys know what I see.

Op,

You complain about how “they” control the chaos without understanding your culpability in the problem, which boils down to your preparations for inevitable natural or otherwise disasters.

You purchase spoilt milk without acknowledging how simple it would have been to purchase powdered milk to have on hand or even a small generator to run your refrigerator and some lights and some 5-gallon cans of gasoline.

If you stopped and thought out a plan for food, cooking and energy needs then you could have hunkered down and ignored those who failed to prepare. In my opinion, the breakdown in society begins when people expect the government to save them and now FEMA has run out of water so where does that leave you.

I hate to say it but Food is the next issue.

Best advice I can give you is get as much food as you can now and Fuck the Gas. Go where people are not and stay away from the crowds.

Be off Sequence.

Re: Sandy from the South Shore Long Island - Just got power & Internet back. Here's the REAL DEAL

Many people still dont get it that this storm was manufactured and Obama knew about this False Flag. Howevr, we are yet to see the worst of it and there are many pointers they want to put on a show for the elections and freeze the whole place. Perhaps even some flooding. I tried explaining what is going on with this storm in this thread:

Thread: Sandy Staged to push Global Warming Fraud - Obama's unprecedented response is the clue.

About the aid coming, they will stall it.

I am very sorry to say this but I think they have decided to use the people of NJ and NY as a sacrifice to push their agenda of GLOBAL WARMING to herald in their NWO. The masses unaware that this storm is engineered will fall for the deception.

Michio Kaku said that this was a storm you will tell the grandkids about while Obama said this was a slow creeping storm. The NJ governor Chris Christie look frightened as if he knew another round of this storm was coming. His complete 360 turn about Obama is also suspicious.

The masses getting excited over the election think its over. How come people don't ask the question where this storm came from and whether they are gonna see any other one in the very near future affecting other states. Perhaps maybe even them and that they should get out while they can, after all no one knows what mother nature would do next and the next time she comes around she could bring all her fury.

Or is Obama now able to tame mother nature?.........adding to the list of the many campaign promises he's making? When the next storm strikes, Obama will pretend as if he doesn't know about it and that it is as a result of mother nature and these people laughing now will be crying for help and taught a lesson of their lives.

I beg you to please leave that place while you can in the next day or 2 and move farther inland. Stay safe and thanks for the heads up.

National guard is on the streets here too. They locked down entire towns. It's a quiet martial law. 7pm curfew. Things are orderly here. One lesson I learned from this disaster is never live on an island. Hundred were trapped by bridge closures and rising water. If you can go west in jersey you are fine. Some towns completely unaffected. Thanks to glp it's lonely here and the only people I can chat with
