Re: Sandy from the South Shore Long Island - Just got power & Internet back. Here's the REAL DEAL
The first rule of prepping is to prepare to stay in place but also prepare to leave.

When your in an area thats at sea level. ITS LEAVE.

Wake up. The world is going through huge changes on the way to alot of destruction.
 Quoting: TrinityMountain

Totally agree. I am in the affected and this was one weird storm. There are more to come. The New Jersey map was changed. A lot of other maps have been changed prior to that. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that our coastal lands will be submerged in the coming years, and not just in the US. It's happening globally.

The Edgar Cayce map is starting to make sense.

Was the NJ map really changed? I don't think NJ sank, just some beach erosion, and of course massive damage but that flooding will recede.

Or is it not looking like that? I am in the affected area too, but inland, so I don't know this for sure.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3841141

If the water hasn't left the islands yet its not going to drain back. The storm surge of storms wash over the tops of islands and removes sand. The weight of the water on top of them also forces them down into the earth. Sea walls are a wonderful thing. They might have to truck in dirt to rebuild the land.

Re: Sandy from the South Shore Long Island - Just got power & Internet back. Here's the REAL DEAL
As a former New Yorker, I've seen garbage strikes, subway strikes, power going down during two blackouts, etc. But Iv'e never seen this kind of destruction to the entire area.

those who are telling you "what you should have done" have the advantage of hindsight. Something you could not have had in advance. No one knows what they might have done until they've faced such a situation. When water starts coming up out of the drains and sewers and suddenly the road in front of your house is a four foot deep river flowing rapidly- who knows what any of us will do.

And you can prepare, have food, water, camp stoves and propane stored and ti can all be washed out to sea in a second if you're in the wrong area at the right time.

Bottom line: Do NOT JUGE ANOTHER MAN UNTIL YOU'VE WALKED A MILE IN HIS SHOES!

Those of you who are telling the OP "he should have built a concrete houses" or "he should have moved away from the area years ago" or worse - basically how well do you think you would have done if you faced this storm and lost your home and possibly your family in the process? Several of you might be in shock and still wondering around not being able to accept the horror of your own reality -- even now. Think about it and above all "JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED!"" GET IT? You're bring something for people to judge you about down on your heads by running your mouth in an unkind way at anyone who is in this mess and suffering!
 Quoting: MarkinAZ

Yes ...by then you will be amile away...and he will have no shoes! Criticize away!

I hear the body count is much higher then expected? Have you seen any of this. I heard people saying that there were bodies lying around.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1471245

Katrina supposedly only killed 2000+- but people who lived near the Mississippi River said there were wall to wall bodies floating for miles.

OP, my thoughts and prayers are with you and everyone who has been affected by Sandy. I agree with those who are saying leave if the coming storm is bad. You don't want to have to confront cold hungry people.

The politicians are making things worse. Media is hand in hand creating panic. All day long on local stations all they have is folks calling in reporting who has and who has no gas. I'm sure you hear the stories. People lines up hours waiting at a closed station for some delivery that may or may not arrive.

south shore nassau county here, still no power

drove my car today for the first time since Monday, to get new tires... to prepare for a possible getaway in the next day or two. Avoided burning any gas but there are nuts out there going stir-crazy and driving around for no good reason.

Have been avoiding the insane gas lines. The people standing in line are friendly, but the lines with cars are super tense.

I'm a prepper, survivalist so I'm dealing with the no power situation better than most who are cut off without their creature comforts.

Have only been traveling around by bicycle so haven't seen too much. So can't say how it is in all areas. I do hear sirens here and there and the constant hum of generators. I haven't seen any violence or craziness but I'm in a fairly peaceful town.

I will pray for guidance in the next few days as to whether I should get away from here, possibly to NEVER RETURN. Seriously.

Manufactured?? Do you really want to look this stupid?????
 Quoting: Desert Fox

I made a thread explaining why this storm couldn't just be a coincidence. It is pure common sense....something you can ask yourself and almost feel. It will take you at least 5 mins to read through. You responded to my post barely seconds after posting without even opening the thread asking me if I want to look stupid..

Thread: Sandy Staged to push Global Warming Fraud - Obama's unprecedented response is the clue.

If you did open the thread and read through I am sure you might be the one that might look stupid for believing that this storm was purely coincidental.

And if it was the word "manufactured" that got to you, well I meant it was controlled and stirred perhaps even created.
 Quoting: Ohwell

I refuse to waste my time on such nonsense.
 Quoting: Desert Fox

Then stop wasting our time with you're post in a conspiracy website, for this storm was engineered with weather manipulation and space based weapons. The Russians and American astronauts arrived at the international space station just before this storm was created.

Is it just a coincidence that this storm stalled long enough to make landfall 38 years (11) to the day of the 1929 stock market crash?? The NYSE was shut down for the ritual for the banking elite. Also, for another blood sacrifice the HMS Bounty that sank of the coast and 14 of 16 were rescued, well the captain was lost at sea and the other poor soul who succumbed to the sea was the great great great great great grand daughter of Fletcher Christian, yeah that's right a blood relative of the man who staged the actual Mutiny on the Bounty.

Yeah but this is just a coincidence and we are all whack jobs right?? NO, we see the dots and we are of good moral fortitude and we believe in the truth and want to live clean, righteous lives not infringed by satanic psychopathic overlords.

So if you can't be bothered researching the TRUTH about the conspiracies on a conspiracy site then what are you here for in the first place?? Something about you never sat well with me from quite a few of your posts I've read. Because I trust my gut and if I'm wrong I have no shame in admitting it. Ever!!

Sorry for the rant, kind of, I believe we are all suffering under a lot of low frequency vibrations in our atmosphere, and those who know, know why.

South Shore - Hang in there. Bloomy and crew are full of more shite than a Christmas Turkey. Take care of your family and your neighbors. I'm up in the Bronx off of 231st and Broadway anf there are large segments/blocks without power since Monday night. That said, we've been lucky other than the inconvenience (no lights/heat) we all have four walls, roofs, food, water (all the stores on Broadway up here have power and are stocked) and no deaths. As many have stated before, those counting on the governement are in for a rude awakening and ultimately will be good and well screwed.
On another note, I love all the rigtheous posters grabbing the mantle of upper companion ("Well, if you weren't prepared...well, you were warned...If it was me, I would have.." and a myriad of other brilliant comments written from the saftey of their mothers' dry and well-lit basements) as well as the fuck new york and its inhabitants sentiment I've seen written with great frequency here. The people in my neighborhood are puerto rican, domincan, black, italian, jewish and irish (my peeps) and you'd be amazed - particularily given the repeated ignorant comments regarding nyc and its people - how honorble, compassionate, thoughtful and human they've been. Visiting NYC once or twice doesn't really give haters a right to slam a blanket judgement of all new yorkers (and judging from some of the comments if you were treated like shit you probably deserved it for being such a rube twit asshole.
That said, continued good fortune to all.

Has no one put together that this hybrid storm was put together to happen on the anniversery of the 1929 Stock Market crash that happened in late october of 1929. I find it shocking that this happened on this date. Maybe nothing, maybe something.

Re: Sandy from the South Shore Long Island - Just got power & Internet back. Here's the REAL DEAL
We have been cut off, out of the loop for days not knowing anything but what the local media on the radio had reported. Even getting power back we still have no TV. I just got Internet.

The damage in my town and the towns surrounding me is moderate to severe. Flooding is horrible and no one had power. But we survived and lucky to have more than most elsewhere.

Water is unusable and sewage treatment plants are down left and right. THE WATER SMELLS OF CHLORINE - SUPER STRONG!

Gas/food/supplies:
it is near impossible to get. On a normal day I travel 70 miles a day into Nassau County and points in between. I quickly ran out of fuel and still find it impossible to get gas. I refuse to play into this panic and wait online 3-4-5-6++ hours just to get $40 of $4.89 gas.

Everyone wants a generator. All over the radio talk about them here or there. No gas but run out and buy that generator.

Food stores are hit or miss. I really feel this is the next big crisis. No deliveries are getting in. Twice now I have gone out to restock the fridge with new food and found foul milk being sold at King Kullen and Stop & Shop!

Controlled Chaos:
The politicians are making things worse. Media is hand in hand creating panic. All day long on local stations all they have is folks calling in reporting who has and who has no gas. I'm sure you hear the stories. People lines up hours waiting at a closed station for some delivery that may or may not arrive.

For example, Governor Cuomo in all his infinite wisdom announces 10 gallons of free fuel in mobile stations parked in western regions of the affected area. Lines form and quickly they tell everyone its for EMS vehicles only. Mayor Bloomberg holds a news conference an hour later telling people to go get the free gas if they need it.

Employment:
Most everyone I know couldn't get to work on Friday. No gas. My job laid everyone off on Friday afternoon for all of next week. Calling it a work furlow just so you can't claim unemployment! So now people need to worry how the hell they are supposed to feed their family losing close to 2 weeks pay.

Look it's bad. Worst I've ever seen. Worse than Gloria back in the 80's and much much worse than the 70's gas crisis. Back then it wasn't chaos. IT IS COMPLETE CHAOS.

I have seen fights in the streets. Accidents and cars broken down on the side of the road no gas. Flooding came far inland, trees and power lines down all over. LIPA can not tell us when the power will be restored fully and the whole situation is about to boil over into a full scale breakdown of society.

I can see how they control the chaos. Slowly ratcheting it up and now whipping it up into a full scale frenzy.

I know this is normal for a crisis such as this but hold on folks. I see it getting much worse yet! This was more than a "Hybrid Storm". It was the start of it all! I am sure of it.

Just needed to vent and let you guys know what I see.

I know some of you guys saying "should've prepped better" are kind of being insensitive, but honestly it's still true. I mean, I hope all you guys are okay, DO YOUR BEST AND KEEP SAFE.

But anyone coming here knows the world is getting worse and worse. We've likely got much worse to come, and it's already bad in many places this year.

I know for a fact I'm not prepped. Sure I have food and stuff, but not deliberately stored. It's always been a normal thing in my household to have at least a week's worth of food (once a week shopping trip). Rationed out we could last 2-4 weeks, even with our pets (hey they eat a lot too!). So, I mean I actually don't understand how people couldn't even have at least a week's worth of food. It just seems bizarre.

What I am seeing is it is bad ad getting worse for a bunch of people. It could have been avoided - but I really see TPTB seem to want this.

If the water hasn't left the islands yet its not going to drain back. The storm surge of storms wash over the tops of islands and removes sand. The weight of the water on top of them also forces them down into the earth. Sea walls are a wonderful thing. They might have to truck in dirt to rebuild the land.

Saw this an another site, don't know if it's true...

If you need work FEMA needs clean up crews for South Jersey. It's $1,000 for 7 days, hotel and food included. Call 904-797-5998.. Pass the word on if you know people who need work.
