This is NOTHING UNUSUAL at this time of the year.... the ONLY thing unusual is really only the HEIGHT of the high water. Many "normal" things are causing this such as a bit more rainwater as usual so that the rainwater cannot drain BEFORE the high tide hits. Furthermore, with the MOSE-system currently being built it appears that at its current stage of the works it does not allow the seawater to stream around the lagoon as it usually did but keeps a bunch of water "trapped" in places where it shouldn't which increases the effect of the high water levels. WE ARE USED to this situation, nothing unusual here.... at least for the time being...... |

.7..X.Brighter User ID: 27509926 Croatia 11/11/2012 09:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is perfectly normal for Venice. Beautiful city, my favourite place, but unfortunately being built in (quite literally 'in', not around) a lagoon means that flooding like this happens most years. Add to the fact that Venice is slowly sinking as it's foundations settle further, and the flooding will get slowly worse no matter what. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23992770 it matters, on what Venice is built on....not where... .7..X.Brighter |
