“When are we gonna get some f--king help?!?!"
Nice to know that he finally decided to visit after 5 days! applause2

Storm-ravaged and weary Rockaways residents cornered Mayor Bloomberg yesterday to angrily demand more aid for their devastated neighborhood.

“When are we gonna get some help?” blasted one desperate woman, who had to be held back by the mayor’s security detail as Bloomberg stood by with a deer-in-the-headlights look.

When are we gonna get some f--king help?” she demanded.

“There’s old ladies in my building that don’t got nothing,” lashed out a man on video caught by a NY1 reporting crew.

Bloomberg’s trip to the Rockaways wasn’t announced and wouldn’t have been caught on cameras if the news crew hadn’t happened to run across him. Back in City Hall, he expressed sympathy with the residents’ plight.

Bloomberg is a dumbass.

He thinks banning big drinks will cut down on obesity, because he has never heard of free refills.

He thinks the only way anyone dies is because guns magically make people want to shoot each other.

He wanted to run a Marathon right after the biggest natural disaster in New York City's modern history.

And he had NO CLUE that Staten Island got the living hell beat out of it.

"The priorities are showing, simply by the fact that Manhattan got their power back," he said, adding that Staten Islanders are used to being lower on the list. "We're the bastard kids who keep getting slapped in the head and told to shut up," he said.

Hours later, after the long lines formed, state officials said the public should stay away from the refueling stations until emergency responders got their gas. National Guard Col. Richard Goldenberg added, however, that those who were already at the distribution sites would not be turned away.

Ten people were arrested at gas stations on Friday in various disputes over line jumping, police said. The police presence where there were gas lines was increased on Saturday. Still, there was one arrest for disorderly conduct at the armory in Brooklyn, where free gasoline was being distributed.

Every other week, I drop off a few loaves of bread to an elderly neighbor. She's not family, but she only has a few hundred to live on each month and can use the extra help. While it doesn't hurt me to give her that little extra help.

Why are these idiots demanding that the government do their jobs???? It's all of our responsibilities to look after those among us who are in need.

Knowing that a hurricane was coming, they were supposed to get enough food and supplies for themselves and some to help others. At least that's how functional societies act. To bad we forgot how to be functional.

“They’re looting cars all over the place,” Morgan said. “This is New York City. They have to help us.”

Some Rockaways residents who work as firefighters in The Bronx and Manhattan were fuming yesterday — sitting idly in their firehouses while their neighbors and family members miles away struggled to get help.

“We’re all going crazy,” said one firefighter, who asked his name not be used for fear of retribution. “They’re not deploying any extra resources, and we’re just sitting around.”

If I remember correctly, Bloomberg warned residents in this area, before the storm hit, that help would be long in coming (I think he mentioned two weeks or so) and that residents should therefore evacuate and plan on being without services for some time. Where are the family members of these old people who allegedly have nothing? Surely there must be some relative who can tend to them. Why expect government agencies to supply everything?

My image of east-coast Americans as being self-reliant, civilized and independent is going to have to be readjusted to thinking of them as being whiny, crude and entitled. I hope this is just a temporary adjustment. I think we can all do better than that.

And if any of you have relatives who have been affected by the storm and you've offered no help to them -- SHAME ON YOU. Family is always the first line of defence. If you've done nothing to help your kin thus far, now is the time to start.

I get what your saying!

But...homes were COMPLETELY wiped out!!! Maybe some of these people only had enough resources to stock up and shelter in place, then the storm surge came in a smashed their home to splinters, along with all the supplies they DID have.

What about the people who spent what they had left to leave town and evacuate, they are coming back to nothing! Some probably lost business's as well. It's just one big huge MESS! The overpopulation of the area doesn't help much either.

Evacuate to where, exactly?

And some old people don't have any relatives nearby.

Yes, there should be some prepping on each persons part, but 111 homes burnt to the ground. Ho,es completely flooded out. No prepping is going to help that. I doubt they can just get on their private jet and head to sunnier climes.

It's easy to say "evacuate" when one is untouched by it. But a lot of people have kids/families, and most of these people are blue collar folks, firemen and police and sanitation, and have to be at work. No excuses.

When 50% of your income disappears in taxes each paycheck, it's not unreasonable to think that maybe the National guard, or Army, or Fema, or the Red Cross can at least make an appearance.

Just saying.

Where is the self responsibility? We knew for a week this storm was coming and was going to be bad. Did you prepare or just expec to be helped out? When the shot hits the fan, those asking for help will be bused out to the camps first and will be nothing but happy about it.
