There is no "housing". Obvious NASA shills are obvious. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25839744 It is manipulation but it's a very simple technique, all you need to do is take one shot, rotate the arm to a different position while holding the camera in the same spot then take a 2nd shot, combine the two you get rid of the arm. GLP is indeed full of conspiracy tards that would freak out on anything they don't know, and they really don't know much. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() But how does a camera take a picture of itself at all? how exactly is this not clear to you? grab your phone strech your arm and take a picture, now put the phone in your other hand, strech, edit. So... how exactly does that wind up with a picture of the camera TAHT IS TAKING THE PICTURE... Didn't think so. I smell shillery. Yes, that was my question. His process would give you a stitched image of someone standing in place with no indication of a camera at all. There is no process that would allow the camera to take a picture of itself, no matter how the images are stitched together. |

Please point out where this image is stitched together. I can't find one area. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26891603 Exactly. So how was it taken? Is there a magical invisible arm that juts out from the rover and extends a few feet that holds a special invisible camera? |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 26967473 11/04/2012 02:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP , clearly your IQ is lower than supposed Mars microbial life. There is no one in the lens reflection. You and " your friend" better go outside and catch a fresh air. Air in your momma basement is obviously so unhealthy for you.. there is a forum that name i wont mention because you might go there and make bigger idiot from yourself. There they have ultra high res photos taken by Mahli aparature stiched together. And from what i know there is no friend of your in that picture(12mb in size) |

What you just described is impossible. oh come on, you should be sharing more about your uncle Brat. It's funny man! Ignore me. :) i just can't belive people actually fall for this. I dare you to replicate what you just said, and wind up with a picture of the camera that is taking the picture. Impossible. Sorry. what do you expect? a canon logo? so for the picture because it genuine nasa product there are some info. "This image is a mosaic of 55 high resolution images taken by the rover's Mars Hand Lens Imager (MAHLI) taken on Halloween 2012. In this image the rover is located at Rocknest, the location in Gale Crater where MSL took its first scoop sampling. You can see four markings in front of the rover where MSL scooped the surface. On the right side of this image you can see the central mound, Mount Sharp rising above the horizon, while in the background on the left you can see the northern wall of Gale Crater. Self-portrait images like this one let MSL engineers and mission specialists examine the state of the rover. Understanding the rover's condition will help to extend it's life. This self-portrait technique has been used on other Mars rovers, including Opportunity and Spirit, and helped to increase their life more than tenfold. " So MAHLI is just this good. what does it looks like and where is it? He's been off the site for months now and like I said, he doesn't work for NASA. They used a bunch of different contractors for the job. He said the whole site had like 40 to 50 people at a time buzzing around, a lot of trailers, canopies, refreshments, a food truck. He said it was hot as hell. Lots engineers, some people from the movie industry. But he said the whole thing seemed a little sloppy. He did sign a non-disclosure agreement, but he doesn't care and wants the truth out. You better spend some quality time with him soon! Always Seeking the Truth :supersun: |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 26980107 11/04/2012 03:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26980107 Also, if NASA applies a filter to make everything look brown, why is the top of Curiosity bright white still? Probably edited that way in post-processing. It would be a big job to do it that neatly, but the article says the image is just slapped together, that's why they supposedly didn't even remove the image of "our friend" from the camera lens. Removing that image would be much easier. Like said, it's slap-shod. They do some post work, they apply filters and such, and other things they let go. He told me out of the thousands of photos released so far that he and others helped take, a bunch of them have "easter eggs", some intentional, some not. One of his favorites is one that had somebody's shoe in it. I'll have to get him to send it to me and I'll post it. Yes please do that. The one that supposedly had a rat in it didn't look convincing to me. |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 26970422 11/04/2012 03:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If your friend a vampire who likes to hang upside down? This is batty. Nice try, but you ignored the inconsistency between the optical inversion of the horizon and the lack of it in your imaginary friend. The robotic arm-mounted Mars Hand Lens Imager (MAHLI)took this composite photo of Spirit. Clearly, the arm has been edited out. |
| Keep2theCode User ID: 20545539 11/04/2012 04:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I really don't think some people understand the question. So there's a camera attached to the rover, up on some arm and facing the rover, taking a bunch of little photos that NASA pieced together to make one image. Regardless of whether that arm is straight under the camera or off to the side, there should be SOMETHING sticking out from the rover that goes out of the visible frame to where the camera is. A drawing would help, but here's the best I can do with keyboard: .......... ____ ........ /.....O <-- camera _____/ ||||||| ||||||| <-- rover |____| No matter where that camera arm goes, it's attached to the rover SOMEWHERE. Yet there is NOTHING in the photo, composite or not, that extends out from the rover to where the camera is. So all you Einsteins, throwing insults because you don't get the question: WHERE IS THE CAMERA ARM? Last Edited by Keep2theCode on 11/04/2012 04:08 PM Those who know all the answers haven't heard all the questions. |
