Southern NM UFO traffic
My first thread (yay!)

Living in Southern New Mexico, and as I am sitting on my porch looking at the sky, I have seen no less than 8 high-flying, fast-moving objects in the sky in the last 15 minutes. These objects are not flying with normal air traffic, and in fact would be passing the aircraft as if they were barely moving at all if they were.

if at all possible, try to take a look up near the sun where they seem to illuminate brightest. Could be nothing at all, but I have never seen this kind of activity in the sky in the 34 years I have lived in this state.

Not to shill myself before I even post... I do live near White Sands. But I have never seen anything I could not identify like this, and that includes the time period before the stealth was publicly released (I mean, I did not recognize the body style, but they are clearly standard aircraft.)

Lots of stuff going on lately...

*Bump* for curiosity.

Seems to be picking up now too, I just saw two together. One other thing of note, they all seem to be heading due south/Southwest from here.

WooHoo! I have seen a lot of things in my time, but this is the most unusual daytime activity I have ever seen.

US experimental or newly designed aircraft on test flights.
That area has always had a lot of military training/storage/experimental activity

After finally convincing my Fiance to actually look instead of thinking me nutty, she saw them as well. I surmised some sort of top secret craft (As I said before, I live a stones throw from White Sands, so entirely possible) though there have been dozens of them, travelling in the same direction. If they are top secret, there are a lot of them. Drones perhaps?

Also saw one that was long, like that cigar-shaped object photographed by the amateur astronomer last week or so. Probably a mirrored surface, since they glow brightly when they pass near the sun, but fade away as they leave it's brilliance.

Look near the sun. Block the sun itself with a building/roof, and look at the hazy glow around it. *EDIT* Forgot to add, wear sunglasses.

As for a picture...

( . ) <~Just a point of light from my perspective [Except for the cigar shaped one... ( - )], I have no binoculars ATM, but would be grateful if someone can catch one of these and help to identify.

Muchas Gracias!

These are more than likely meteors that you're in the uncommon position to see during daylight. They fit the uptick we're supposed to expect in asteroid activity this and next week. This is not to mention all the meteors we've been having in the past few MONTHS.

On that, I have to say it is not likely. What I am seeing is not moving as high a velocity as a meteor. No streak, just steadily moving by. Faster than Aviation traffic, but nowhere near meteor speed. Also, I believe them to be well within the atmosphere but still very high, Moving laterally not plunging.

Unless one lands on my lawn, I am going to stick with either drones, or the next generation of Stealth Fighter being flown in numbers.

YMMV

Re: Southern NM UFO traffic
They are Chinese celebratory lanterns there about 3 feet tall and they go up to you about 100 feet in the sky and then they burn out and fall. they kind a look like military flares but they're not. My mom swore they were military flares for some kind of military training activity on White Sands but I tickers my house and we've lit off a few of these Chinese lanterns and they like exactly like what you described

Re: Southern NM UFO traffic
Hi, Harry.

I was on my porch with my brother yesterday. We have lots of military boys in the area that fly around here too. Mostly just playing tag with one another. The occasional sonic boom, that sort of thing. I'm used to looking up to see what is flying, how big, which direction.

Saw these little critters yesterday. Small orbs. Mine were mostly headed N. i originally thot they were fluff, insects, or an after image of looking at this bizarre glare. They seemed organic (not as in healthy, but NOT machinery). one made a hard 45 degree turn while I was tracking it. That made me sit up and watch them harder. A few seemed to move in tandem. Others seemed to respond to normal air traffic.

I'm used to being a nut. I don't really care. This is interesting. I'm looking forward to looking again today.

This wasn't the standard "wtf was that" because all you had to do was wait a few seconds or a minute to see another.

Oh, and Mr. Meteor Shower? Please provide me with a solid daytime meteor sighting. Cause what I saw, had no trail, reflected brightly IN FRONT of the sun, and lasted much longer than Leonid or even the few "wtf was that" sightings of -- NM sky Unknowns I've known most of my life.

It is kind of funny, I was just thinking about this thread the other day, as I was watching these dots still dancing there. I've just come to accept their presence as a wonder of nature. A subtle light show for a select few to see if they notice. Reminiscent of the "jellyfish" images on nasa films. Wonderful times we live in, no?
