Message Subject THE HOW TOO THREAD FOR SAND STORAGE OF VEGTABLES AND OTHER THINGS. FOOD TO LAST ALL YEAR...!

I tried sand storage for some carrots in 2010 in my cellar.

I found that it attracted ants, and by the Spring the carrots had totally disappeared in the sand. Strange! I guess they dissolved in the sand? They were gone!

If you have ants then use borax. You can buy it anywhere and its cheap. Use a wood box thats chalked so they can't sneak in. Fit it with a lid. Tight lid.

Your carrots didn't dissolve. The ants took away and ate every little shread of them. Ants can do that. Amazing Little Critters and very efficent.

Sprinkle Borax between the layers and then on the top. Its a natural product and will not hurt you or your vegatbles.

The ants eat that instead. Sorry it kills the ants but would you rather they eat your vegtables.
