I've already prepped but I'm not going to stop working on it in the event I haven't thought of something. There is great threads on here with lots of awesome information. Anyone who has a computer and knows GLP should be doing the same thing. We had Katrina, now we have Sandy. I hope to GOD people have learned their lessons well and are preparing according to their ability. If someone says they don't have the ability, they need to go back and read those threads because it is possible for most anyone. |

I keep asking this too. In order to move, you have to have some plan for supporting yourself and your family, whether you have any relatives to take you in for a time or not. Self-sufficiency is now called 'terrorism', in case anyone hasn't been keeping up. Got a nice RV? Portable stove or oven? Generator? Fuel? Cash? Terrorist. But the armchair preppers say you can get away with it somehow. And pray you don't ever need to see a doctor or dentist. Those who know all the answers haven't heard all the questions. |

Get it to 70 degrees in the house then goto bed. Those with generators have to wait in gas lines most of the day. I don't mind the cold. It's really not that cold anyway. I also took heavy quilts and put over dooways to cut down the area I needed to heat. It was toasty, snug and warm while the wind was howling outside. I do want to warn that I used a lot of gas to do this and it is only a short term remedy. When push comes to shove...it works to keep you warm. |

I could have bugged out to a place with power already. I want to know what my limits are. Once this is over I will be adding a few things. More gas storage, doubling my off grid solar capacity, more rechargeable batteries 9 volt especially for smoke detectOrs which run out quick when power is Out. Generator too. I learned redundancy is key. You need options and the more the better. For god sake if you aren't armed you are going to be scared shitless. I sleep with my .45 on the night stand. People roam the streets at weird hours looking for opportunity. A simple sign saying you are armed is enough to turn away most would be crminals |
