But everyone is so damn judgmental and critical and holier than holy, self righteousness is a reflection of hatred and the devil feeds off it. My small town has enough food for everyone in the town for 3 days... 3 days only! Then they need more shipped in. There never was enough food for everyone to stock up on. Hope you never have to stock up for a bad storm like this, it won't happen. Blame the victims! Blame the victims! And then what? Just let em rot? Oh sweet Jesus who are we? Quoting: Rider on the Storm How many of those people didn't set aside a couple week's food and water before the storm hit? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26357200 I understand if your home got wiped out - then prepping wouldn't work - but what about the others? Your town must be small..mine is too..but these folks are in NEW York..no excuse to not be prepared for at least three days.. Most folks have 3 days food without even prepping, its not hard..unless of course u use all ur money for drugs or something else .. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 919411 What an idiot - just a typical "I don't live in reality" politician if you ask me. That situation is deteriorating FAST and I can't see enough getting done to help the people FAST enough to head off pure CHAOS developing. Best of luck NY - you're gonna need it! Yep, damn lucky. He is so fucking detached from reality its pathetic, from his marathon call to the national guard bullshit, and now a noreaster about to blow through, these fucking centrally planned agencies are'nt going to do shit. There only purpose is to deal with these type of situations and the guy can't even get a bottle of water and we are what almost a week into this. It seems to me, that most liberal democrats who have obtained political office, have become detached from reality. Sometimes, I wonder. I really do wonder if dumbed down Changelings have been switched for political personalities. Once they are elected it seems their brains melt down. I thought Bloomberg is Republican, but it applies. Democrats are bad, Republicans are bad, but some of them I dunno. His first news conference he said it wasn't going to be a big deal. That got Jim Cantore from the Weather Channel really upset. |

Quoting: dschis1000 He's a Democrat but when he became interested in becoming mayor, he didn't want to run against a large field of his fellow libs, so he registered as a Republican. I forgot that at the news conference a day before Sandy hit, he was treating the whole matter as no BFD. One of the meteorologists with a blog said he couldn't even believe how apathetic Bloomberg was about the whole thing. Okay, maybe he didn't want to be accused of overreacting. But several days later, the douche isn't even willing to cancel the NYC Marathon, and only does that when people start to complain. Maybe he'd be more pissed if the public were eating fried food and sugary drinks instead of suffering from blackouts, no water, no heat, no food. |

If this is true why can't they get this water up to the devastated area. I once read how Carter made it a reserve so if there was a huge disaster in NY the water could come to the public. Will try to find that article We are all fragments of time in a universe of eternity. |

Think about it these are the same people that wait in line at walmart at 11:59pm at the end of the month, literally broke until that EBT magically, gets credited with taxpayer funded "assistance." Then they spend it on baby formula, twinkies, doritos, and spam for their 8 kids. |

I'm just curious. They had over a week's notice that this storm was coming. Why didn't people stock up on food, water, essentials? Why weren't the local governments prepared with shelters, medicine, possible generator failures in Hospitals?? Did they miss the news? Eireann, you make an excellent point. There were CONTINUOUS warnings about the severity of Sandy for DAYS before the storm struck. How can so many people be so oblivious to what's going on in their community? Some people lost their homes and need a lot more help than others. But a lot others are complaining to "the government" about not having food, water, flashlights, batteries, portable stoves and radios, etc. It's simply a matter of COMMON SENSE to PREPARE for a disaster that YOU'RE BEING WARNED ABOUT. Hopefully, these people will learn and be ready NEXT time. |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 9214932 11/04/2012 11:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | True story...friends of my friend left their large but power-less home in NJ to come to my friend's house in PA on Saturday to do their laundry and catch a hot meal. They've been told the juice won't be back on till next weekend. While at his house, my friend told them to make the best of their visit, load up their car with non-perishable foodstuffs, buy a cheap cooler and some ice and take some other stuff back. I even called while I was in a store that had more than a couple of generators of various sizes available to see if they wanted me to get one for them. These dopes left this afternoon with nothing more than clean clothes. Go figure. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27004446 ROFL "He was there to assess the situation"? Idiots like this do not assess anything. At best, they push paper & pick through their hair like mindless apes. Exactly what would there be to 'assess' on a post-apocalyptic hurricane, mud-filled street in BFE? In a perfect world, this would be a task left to local authorities & responders, who can then pass the information UP the chain. I can see that in this case, we have bypassed the middle-man and sent the mayor out in a wonderful leather ensemble (also available in Baby Seal blue), to quell people's fears about the event cancellation and pass out marathon rain-checks. | Anonymous Coward User ID: 25450407 11/04/2012 11:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Fricking New Yorkers have a huge ENTITLEMENT MINDSET!! Sheesh ... hate to say it but they all have this "YOU OWE ME", "YOU OWE ME", "YOU OWE ME" mindset when they don't get their way or something very FORESEEABLE happens that THEY did not WANT to happen. I agree with some of the posts above... not even a week and people have NO food? Sheesh. They certainly couldn't live in my area since winter storms can cause week long problems EASILY. They also did NOT pay any attention to the news either (or felt they "KNEW" better than the weather forecasters) Sorry, but except for those who houses were actually destroyed or got water into them MORE than a couple of feet higher than the floorboards of the first floor, I just can NOT sympathize with their "YOU OWE ME" attitude. THEY CHOSE to live in a hurricane potential area ... and now they are pissed at the government because, OMG, a hurricane actually hit? (and caused the damage that would be expected). Cry me a river ... NOT |
