"When Are We Going to Get Some Fucking Food, Fuck You"--Bloomberg Visits Rockaway

Everyone, everywhere should have a couple weeks of food put away for emergencies. That way people don't have to run to the store when a hurricane is forecasted. Then they will have food to share with others after the disaster hit.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a tray of food to take to your elderly neighbor after a bad storm? Rather then complaining about the idiot politician.

We get the politicians that we deserve. They voted in that idiot, because he promised them everything. They refused to voted in people who spoke to them as adults and asked them to act responsibly.

Maybe now they will vote for better people. But I highly doubt it. The idiots in New Orleans voted back in the same people who messed that area up. The idiots in New York will probably do the same.

It's a damn good thing that Bloomberg had police escorting him in that crowd.

That situation is deteriorating FAST and I can't see enough getting done to help the people FAST enough to head off pure CHAOS developing.

Many people are just freaking broke these days and it is enough they are able to put food on the table each day let alone have two weeks stored up.

THEY CHOSE to live in a hurricane potential area ... and now they are pissed at the government because, OMG, a hurricane actually hit? (and caused the damage that would be expected).

90% of these people are in areas that where not evacuation zones... But when the lights went out logistics stopped and even those high and dry can't buy shit because the city is empty....

The US Air Force loaded up globemaster and galaxy cargo jets from Cali and brought in 90 utility crews. You can't airdrop food and water in the neighborhoods. It's going to go right through someones roof. There are a lot of volunteers (me being one of them) that are bringing in supplies. The issue is manpower to distribute them.


while I, as well, am anti the "you owe me attitude", and many NY'ers do have that, these people "didn't choose to live in a hurricane prone area." Storms like these are rare and happen once every 40 years. The reason people are pissed is because these agencies such as FEMA, *actually exist* and are costing taxpayers millions. Since they exist, they should be deployed and helping in full force. It's not that we are pissed at the government. Imagine paying for some type of services and then just not getting them. Everyone pays for FEMA via taxes. We want to see our money being used.

I'm just curious. They had over a week's notice that this storm was coming. Why didn't people stock up on food, water, essentials? Why weren't the local governments prepared with shelters, medicine, possible generator failures in Hospitals??

People don't realize the amount of labor required to rebuild.

Less and less people entering the work force are TRADE TRAINED.

These kids go to school and take Massage therapy and Accounting and Bookeeping and Social Working. They don't like the hard labor jobs and won't train for them.

Most of the ones trained and have a trade are starting to get to retirement age.

You watch what happens coming up. There is going to be nobody around to fix stuff. There is a shortgage already.

Just these rip off artist types that are JACK OF ALL TRADE TYPES and everybody forced to use them gets burned.

How many of these people are starting to even clear out their homes and dry them out. Have chain saws and such.

I heard there were 600 active duty firemen that lived in Rockaways. Their probably the only ones capable of anything.
