Fruit Cake Warning!
If you want to make a real, home made fruit cake this year for the holidays, that doesn't suck, you need to get on it now.

Remember, using dried fruit creates a superior product in the end, over candied store bought and brightly colored stuff.

Keep it moist by treating it with real spiced Rum and don't cheap out. It needs to sit in a closed container, preserved by the alcohol, for at least six weeks, so pick up what you need tomorrow, as well as some nice tins to keep the cakes in.

You think you hate fruit cake?

It's probably because you've only ever had the faked up store version that's made to be as cheap as possible. (Then they charge you oodles for it!)

So get on those as soon as possible, if you haven't already.

Remember: The holidays are only as rich and warm as you make them. Doing things is always better than sitting back and saying Bah-humbug.

Yeah, there's no real comparison to good fruit cake. It's either really good, or it's shit that you want to bludgeon someone in the face with till their face resembles beef stew.

No doubt.

This is part of my project to bring the spirit back to the holiday, so heads up people!

There is no excuse for inferior fruit cake this year!

Re: Fruit Cake Warning!
How bout you give us a recipe or some directions?

I'd love to try it...

Can't stand rum but love rum sauce over strawberries or bread pudding. I imagine a fruit cake would be that same type of rumminess?

I really like fruit cake but I have to stay away from the spirits so if I made some, it wouldn't be the same.

Good fruit cake is expensive to buy! Would be worth making for that reason.
