My area has already had two malls close down completely. Plus a giant shopping area anchored by Sears just disappeared. And I'm in an area where the economy is pretty good. I think online shopping is killing brick-and-mortar. Plus too many malls got built and it's consolidating around one or two instead 5, that kind of thing.

I went to the mall today and it was a lot of people buying shit! JCPenny's was very busy.

This is very true. I live in Central Virginia the area has held up pretty good since the economy went down the shitter. We haven't been over run with the mentally ill Liberals yet!

In OC California and pretty much anywhere in SOCAl, malls are busy as hell. Inland empire is hurting and other spots but no meltdown yet. It will probably come in time tho. There is no growth.

That's got the Panama City Mall beat. There are probably twice as many cars in the lot and the food court remains open.

Many store are still open, although many have also closed.

The Mall still charges outrageous rates for the leases. Only a fool would agree to pay their rates.

The Vitamin World which used to be the #1 store in its district for years is now in last place despite having the same very good manager.

Most stores will have only one customer in them at any given time if that.

There is still a Penney's, Sears and Dillards so somebody must be shopping and buying stuff...unless they are merely money laundering fronts for drugs.
