Re: Unions, good government groups file ethics complaint against Romney for failing to disclose big auto rescue profit
My own Notes: On The Ed Show 01 Nov 2012 I watched the interview with BOB KING, President of the United Auto Workers. Bob King said UAW and 4 other groups demanding a Senate Ethics committee investigation into charges of profiteering by Mitt and Ann Romney. Note: This info which follows is from Greg Palast investigative reporter, link farther below.) Romney's purchased shares of parts company –formerly DELCO then became DELPHI. $0.69 per share. They shipped ALL the auto parts manufacturing jobs to China, then charged way higher prices TO The Automobile manufacturers. Threatened the auto companies. Then, they sold the shares for over $32.00 per share and made millions. A lot of Romney’s backers made even more out of it. Ann Romney, according to Greg Palast's report put one million dollars into the shares. This was during the time of THE AUTO BAILOUT!! Romney is supposedly was supposedly being investigated Nov 02, but I cannot find it anywhere except this reporter's site - Greg Palast. [link to www.gregpalast.com]

Note: To my knowledge, of all the mainstream media channels, only MSNBC has released this story. It was released on the Ed Show and a few other nighttime programs on MSNBC. The info is also in Greg Palast's OpEd News and in a few videos.

From Ed Show Transcript:
BOB KING, UAW PRESIDENT: Great to be with you, Ed.
SCHULTZ: You bet. This is about conflict of interest. But what do
you think Mitt Romney allegedly did that was wrong? Why have you called for this?
KING: Well, because we`re told by our legal department that he violated the government ethics laws and he did not disclose where he`s got a conflict of interest, his investments in Delphi Corporation. It`s so hypocritical, as you said, for him to criticize the loans and then to go in like a vulture capitalist and buy the stock at really low price and basically extort General Motors, costing the taxpayers more money. And he and his friends at the vulture capitalist made as you said
3,000 percent to 4,000 percent return on their investment in Delphi by holding up General Motors and costing the government more money.
SCHULTZ: All right. Let`s talk --
KING: Costing taxpayers more.
SCHULTZ: Yes. Let`s talk about this extort and hold up General Motors. Now, Delphi is critical to the automobile manufacturing business.
They, of course, manufacture parts that go into automobiles with General Motors that they just couldn`t make the vehicles without Delphi`s assistance
. Is that correct?
KING: Right. If the parts don`t come in, they can`t build the cars.
...
KING: Well, they bought up the stock at this really low price and then they demanded much larger cost per part from General Motors, much bigger payments from General Motors in order to deliver the parts, at a point, they were willing to force General Motors to go into liquidation.
They didn`t invest that much, and to get this unbelievable, really I would call it, immoral return, they held up General Motors, said, if you don`t pay us these extra costs, then we`re not going to deliver the parts.
Without steering columns and brakes --
SCHULTZ: Sure.
KING: -- and other parts, you can`t build a car.
SCHULTZ: That, of course, would have halted the automobile rescue and the progress that we have seen today. So, in other words, it was after General Motors, the automobile industry, got this bailout money or this loan money, and this is when Delphi went to work and this is where Mitt
Romney profited. Do I have that correct?
KING: That`s right. That`s exactly right. And then cost the
taxpayer more money by what he did.
SCHULTZ: OK. And now his campaign, as he continues to double down [on claims that General Motors outsourced UAW jeep production jobs to China but not true.][[continues]

UAW Files Charges Against Romney for Auto Bail-Out Profiteering

[link to www.gregpalast.com] Greg Palast

My notes:
Greg Palast was also interviewed by Ed Shultz of MSNBC.
Greg described how Ann Romney invested one million of her own money into Delphi (formerly DELCO) auto parts company.
They have claimed they have blind trusts but they knew it was the parts company. They outsourced all the US workers' jobs to CHINA and JACKRF UP the prices of the prices of auto parts being sold to American car manufacturers.

Obama forced a settlement on the GM bond holders that violated 200 years of contract law. He did that to benefit the union, his supporters.

Don't come here making shit up that somehow Romney benefited from something the mulatto Muslim did, and now Romney is in trouble. Get your boy a valid U.S. birth certificate, get him off the cocaine, make him stop visiting Mens Country in Chicago, then get back to us.

The story is there in black and white so just read it. Wake up.
1. Romney purchased DELCO auto parts shares at 0.69 per share.
2. Ann Romney put one million dollars into the shares - 0.69 per share= 1,449,275 shares.
3. (DELCO became DELPHI at some point)
4. Romney then sent all the American auto parts workers jobs to CHINA.
5. THEN he JACKED UP THE PRICE of the auto parts to the auto manufacturers.
6. He threatened the auto industry if they did want to pay the jacked up prices that would be their problem they would not get parts.
7. THEN after all that damage was done,
8. Romneys sold the 1,449,275 shares at 32.00 per share = $46,376,811 over 46 million dollars.
9. The UAW knows what he did and there are a number of ethics violations not to even mention the fact he screwed over the UAW auto parts workers themselves and extorted the automobile manufacturers at a time when the whole country was going into crisis, before Obama was elected. He did not declare his obscene profits. That is probably one of the years he did NOT want to disclose. He only disclosed TWO years of income taxes.
10. So all your rhetoric about him being a moslem or whatever is laughable.

Complete and utter crap coming from the right wing. I hope Obama wins and wins big so he can get on with actually repairing this economy. The repubs will not have the same stranglehold on the Congress as they did, either.
Certainly not saying the Repubs are all bad...not where I am coming from. The extreme right wing of the Repub. Party had a meeting and the whole goal was to make Obama a one term President. That took precedence over actually doing the business of Congress.

I'm not a dude yeahsure I am a 68 year old grandmother.
Seen a lot of crap go on in this nation saw way to many assassinations been jaded beyond belief. Had/still have hope that Obama will continue to be our President, and yes, I strongly support our labor unions.
If you are so very anti union take a college class in American history and you will learn a lot about it and how hard people to fight, and how many people had their skulls cracked open by hired Pinkerton detectives - just trying to get the rights all workers enjoy today. Rights of collective bargaining, finally, but that is being chipped away by Repubs such as Scott Walker. (Gov WI.)
So what were the long-ago old union guys fighting for? The right to not be expected to work seven days a week. The right to sit down and have a meal a day.
The children not forced to work. They did not want to work 14 - 15 hours per day seven days per week or be tossed out into the snow arbitrarily just because some boss could do so.
Gradually after much bloodshed: The average worker can do an eight - hour day or be paid overtime, union or not. Possible to get holiday pay in many places whether a union shop or not.
It is considered a given that people will get a ten min break at least once a day in addition to meal break. May not always be able to do that in a really busy place but generally we have that right. People had to FIGHT FOR THAT RIGHT - that is the POINT!!
Have a wonderful evening. :)
