Where to begin with the doomage here?

Contaminated food=food borne illness, e coli etc
Contaminated stagnant water =disease
Rats infestation=plague
uncontrolled fires from candlelight or trash barrels=loss of shelter and or lives
extreme cold without heat=hypothermia, death
lack of water=dehydration, illness, or death

Sandy dredged up a host of problems, for a "small" storm, the aftermath seems to be mounting. Every family needs an emergency kit at least for three days no matter where you live. Fema kept telling people this, they also told people to evacuate, and many didn't listen. I heard about people pissed off at the electric utility workers restoring the power, and they were throwing things at them. This is sad, when circumstances bring out the worst in people. We should learn a lesson from this if we don't live there, get things ready now if you haven't done it already.

My parents are on Long Island, they were told not to drink the water at all - not even boiling it would help. There were alot of issues with sewage treatment plants. I would not be surprised if people don't listen and get sick.

Toxic Avenger was a Jersey boy, even he wouldn't go into NY right now.

With what fuel? Smoke from toxic wood debris? How about the natural gas leaks? Furthermore, you cannot boil out toxic chemicals.
