All of a sudden it started going through its phases top to bottom instead of left to right. Two years eh? The moon will appear to "rotate" from "horizontal" near the horizon to "vertical" near the meridian and back to "horizontal" near the horizon in the course of a day. Deal with it. When I looked through my polar aligned scope this weekend it was "vertical" even though by eye it was "horizontal."
