Unionized government workers for Romney! 5a

An even bigger entitlement group than retired admirals and generals!

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Ka-ching!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26924514

Go fuck yourself.

I totally agree that unions need to be out of the public sector 100% but you dont have to be such a prick. I chose to make less money to have good health care and a retirement plan I pay dearly into. Its not an entitlement if you pay for it.
And if $1000 a month is an entitlement-Ka-Ching!!

It's way better than the private sector gets, bud.

We all got fucked out of our pensions a long time ago.

Sounds like these life long military puppets believe Romney will be good for business. Great, more killing. Just what the world needs.
 Quoting: Hollow Bones

What is the matter with you people? As if BHO did not put us in a new war, as if Romney needs the $$ (he is a successful businessman).

Life long military puppets? You would be surprised to learn that men and women who have served in the military do so to secure your freedom. Ask the people in Europe who were freed from concentration camps. You make me sick.

Enjoy your Kool Aid.. you will cry when the Chinese invade without those "life long military puppets". What's the matter? Are you severely obese and unfit for military service?

I wish the Generals would have had this ad run in the NY Times. I would bet the NY Times would refuse it.

Could be that they are concerned with the fact that our constitution is being eroded! They swore to protect and defend it.
 Quoting: calin

This is very true, and they are what we might consider the "Old Guard". The more recent Military personnel seem to be more concerned with the future "benefits" being dangled in front of their noses (benefits which, by the way, will be severely curtailed should Obama gain another term in office) and the fact that during a time of nationwide unemployment they are able to be fed, clothed, and earn a paycheck.

One thing which I find very curious is the timing of this news item. WHY did they wait until the day before the election before publishing it? It comes really too late to influence the election, since half of the voters have already voted early or cast their absentee ballots. It seems to me that it would have made more of an impression if it had been published a week or two ago. Considering that these men's careers have been all about timing, knowing that timing can make all the difference between victory and defeat, it's almost like someone deliberately "dropped the ball" on this.

By the way.

I think it's just fucking hilarious how that "wealth redistribution" and socialism stuff isn't so bad when the wealth is being socialized and redistributed from MY pocket and into some government "worker"'s pocket.

What is the pension of a retired Lt General?

Preliminary Answer - Lt General Pension

Apparently, under the OLD system of calcuating military retirement, a member of the military leaving service at 20 years would get 50% of the average of the highest three years' salary, with a bonus of 2.5% for each year over 20 (which is 75% if retiring at 30 years). Apparently the new system isn't quite so simple, but my guess is that it hasn't gotten worse, especially for officers wearing stars.

An active duty Lieutenant General (pay grade O-9) makes almost $13,000 per MONTH (or $153,000+ per year) plus hefty allowances not all of which carry over to retirement.

If the retired Lt General in the Pat Tillman case loses a star, his pension won't suffer much, as an active duty O-8 makes only slightly less per month (about $11,600).
