Going to be lovely voting weather here in Portland, Oregon.

We could do with some rain, give the city a good wash. Then again, no winter here,,, as in snow. Rode around on the scooter today in a T-shirt and shorts. Got funny looks from the friendly Taiwanese folks. If it isn't HOT, they think it's cold.

Interesting how non-violent weather is traditionally a boring topic.

My triumph today was to prevent the 8th volunteer from leaving another doorknob election flyer.

There is a nice clarity in stepping back into non participation for me, lesser of 2 evils, into how about no evil. First one in my life I am sitting out the madness flying in the ethers, let it implode and give us the worst if need be to hasten the collapse.

The temperature is freezing and the sky is full of 5th of November fireworks here.

I have already removed one Rombamatard that has tried to enter. I believe this bunker lacks in a perimeter alarm, they keep making it to the door.

I'm curious about the 5th of November thing. I've read the poem and it sound pro government, but of course the recent movie is quite the opposite. What is the consensus feeling of those who celebrate the day?

It's cold and gloomy looking outside. We're supposed to get some snow in the next day or two.

The fifth of November thing is not pro-gov. Well.. not entirely. The celebration is for the failure of the rebellion. The rebellion itself was an attempt on King James' life.

I get the feeling that it means different things to different people. For some it's a celebration of a failure, for some it's the celebration of an attempt.

But I don't have the best insider perspective. I've only done a few years on this island.

That's what I get from it too. Officially its the failure but I have a feeling some people do celebrate the attempt.

Speaking of fireworks. (Sounds like you're an x-pat, me too) Taiwan has a fireworks holiday besides the daily random firing for whatever reason strikes anyone's anywhere any time of day. That would be the Yenshui fireworks festival. I think that's the correct spelling.
The best way to describe it is, it's like the running of the bulls, but with fireworks and you are for sure going to get hit. It is flat out no holds barred crazy.
The more fireworks you get hit with, the luckier you will be that year.

This is a small one set off, the reason everyone is "dancing" is that fireworks are exploding underneath people's feet.
