Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9414469 I leave my contacts in for months at a time too and sleep in them. I simply replace them when my eyes begin to burn I just had to today and thus this post. Anonymous Coward User ID: 18073150 United States 11/05/2012 02:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Bacteria and other shit accumulate in your contacts, that why youre supposed to take them out and clean/disinfect/replace them - also your eyes need to be able to 'breathe'. Things may be 'fine' right now but just wait til one of your eyes gets fucked up and then you cant wear contacts for 3 months. Or worse you can permanently fuck up your vision... |

I really dont see the problem and I think its safe? the problem is your eyes move when you're asleep and if you move the contact lens it could scratch your eye and cause really bad damage or the scratch could lead to infection, its just not a risk you want to take... as someone who is blind in one eye i wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy! |

I rub my eyes all the time. I never squirt any eye drops in my eye to clean them. I leave my contacts in for up to 6 months at a time. I sleep in them. I swim with them in. Are your other hygiene habits just as gross? Quoting: BRIEF And the reason is cause I guess I just like to see when I wake up and that plus I just dont like to feel handicapped, something like that For it's its simply laziness. If I couldn't wear my contacts when I sleep, I would wear glasses for the rest of my life, but glasses are such a burden. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 14392840 United States 11/05/2012 03:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | heres a qoute..on Extended wear. Most extended wear (EW) lenses today are made of silicone hydrogel lens materials that allow significantly more oxygen to reach the front surface of the eye, compared with earlier soft (hydrogel) lens materials. Several extended wear lenses are FDA-approved for up to seven days of continuous wear, and at least two brands of silicone hydrogel EW lenses — Air Optix Night & Day (CIBA Vision) and PureVision (Bausch + Lomb) — are approved for up to 30 days of continuous wear. Also, some gas permeable lenses have received FDA approval for up to 30 days of continuous wear. |

KungPowMeowMeow User ID: 11092695 United States 11/05/2012 03:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've done this for the past 10 years. I never take them out except to change them. I've only had one eye infection in that time frame and it was from pink eye and not related to wearing contacts. My eye doc know this and checks the vascularization of my eyes-he says everything looks fine. I get the extended wear that can be worn overnight now, but for years I used daily disposables for months at a time. I find that the less I touch them, the longer they last and the only thing that really messes them up is crying. I'll get calcium deposits on them and have to throw them out. It is actually very uncomfortable not to have contacts in my eyes, it feels like someone is blowing right into my eyeball and it makes my eyes water profusely. Again, my doc says that's normal, they're used to having a protective shield. These days they make contact more breathable so your eyes get enough O2, and again my eye doc is fine with me wearing mine 24/7. "Fortune, honour, beauty, youth are but blossoms dying. Wanton pleasures, doting love are but shadows flying." ---Thomas Campion |
