An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. The root of the whole job issue is ephmeralzation, good for all of us, but rotten when you're transitioning. More and more jobs are being automated, as in it wouldn't matter about outsourcing, not really, because soon, there will be few with jobs outside those creating intellectual and innovative content... and the people to do the shit work. That's what it boils down to, no one wants to go balls to the wall with automation because when we do, some will get stuck with the shit work and be pissed off. Who decides who those folks are? Better to keep us all scrambling for our ducats than realizing our potential. And unfortunately, some fall into the "just capable of shit work" category. We're doing more with less, but until we can do everything with nothing, we're boned. There will be the tug of war between those who want everyone to toil because it's "good for the soul" and those who don't want to say some people have to do the shit work.
