There's definitely something up. One, I can pretty much guarantee this is NOT Anonymous. Not nearly the numbers to take out so many hubs. All of Anonymous can shut down a few websites, for a few hours, perhaps a single hub if you could convince them it's a good idea. I actually agree with the odd thing they do, so I make a point to keep an eye on what they're up to.

My firewalls have been blocking all kinds of odd traffic at random times of day. Looks like a large scale DDoS. If I had to guess, I'd say it's originating in China. I've been running attacking IP addresses on my own system and others I can monitor, and they're coming from typical Proxy locations- Mexico, Romania, other places like that. Further prying is pointing me towards empty fields in China. Which is about as far as one can usually trace a Chinese hacker.

This is a very large-scale and professional operation. I completely believe this is a cyber war.

Furthermore, I believe the attack is being conducted through Facebook, via flash games. I've been testing my firewalls against various webpages, my Facebook has no games and doesn't stir up an alert. My girlfriend, however, has a lot of those free flash games, had her sign in and the firewall went apeshit. I think the majority of these free Facebook games are probably there to rip IP info or plant DDoS spammers. That would ALSO explain the massive increase in social networking, DESPITE all the increased latency.

Change your DNS servers and proxy up. Get COMODO Firewall, it's free. I don't know enough to say if this crap is actually spreading via Facebook, but in light of recent events, it looks very suspicious to me.

GUYS trust us it is down. We have the information right in front of us. Stop sending messages nobody is getting them it is just an optical illusion that your internet is working

Don't be a bunch of idiots, just because your hub is down doesn't mean your internet is down. There are alternate routes and hubs at the cost of extra latency, which is what is happening now. Nobody should be out completely.

This ^^^. And if you look at the hubs that are down, they seem to coincide with the fucking hurricane last week. OMG, the sky is falling tho.

Ours here in SE Wisconsin crashed for about 30 seconds last night. It has also been slower two.

From what I learned in my technical school, mrclean, is that the Internet is designed to be resilent. That like you said one or two or less than five major hubs can be down for whatever reasons, and the rest of the Net would really take a hit but not be crippled. The IT people would be hard at work restoring service to the downed major hubs. However from looking at that link, mrclean, MOST of the major hubs are down seem to be on the East Coast. Seems to be mostly where places where Sandy blew threw town there. But here in Texas? Hmm, I'm not sure about that one. I find this, too, mrclean, to be suspect. Too many major hubs are down all across North America to be a coincidence. Something's going on. The only way Obama can get away with finishing off the Net in a hurry is if the New Madrid Fault line up and slips hard. That'd murder millions of Americans in a hurry in a variety of ways. One being that the Gulf of Mexico would fill up the newly opened gap seperating the East Coast and the other half of America that's not under ocean water, which would result in the immediate deaths of millions right then and there with the flood waters. I'm with rogers in Ontario. Although its not down its been super slow for the last 5 days. I know it gets slow at night regardless but its all day now.

Walmart and Mcdonalds has gone down too a few times this year. And over the Weekend, JCPenny had problems.

So has mine, and my internet has been slow as a snail, and constantly freezing up.

I totally agree - my boys keep complaining about the slower connections and blaming the other computer being on - but it is powered off at the time - I also had both my phone, and my internet go out for no good reason on different days last week - both go through the modem from my ISP.

nope just downloaded a 780mb file in 2 min 32 sec, and at another site on dsl a 400 mb file at 7 min your smoking crack

My internet was completely bombed last night. Could hardly get any response and now I see Vancouver is down. Or isn't reading correctly.

Yesterday my internet had the x on the 2 computers showing it wasn't connected, i went in and disconnected and re-connected, showed connected with most bars and never once did the little x at the bottom right hand corner show that i was connected all day yesterday.

One of my local tv stations went on and off for about half hour last night so I thought all of this was solar flare but I guess it was just a coincidence.
