Everybody understands that 92% of the huge deficits were inherited from Bush, right?
And everybody knows that Obama has been spending less than any president since Eisenhower, right?

Here are the facts: In Reagan's first term, government spending grew 8.7% per year. In his second term, it grew 4.9% per year.

Under Bush Sr., 5.4% per year.

Under Clinton's two terms, 3.2% and 3.9%.

Under Bush Jr., 7.3% and 8.1%.

Obama: 1.4%.

Our current budget deficit has nothing to do with out-of-control Democratic spending and everything to do with a massive recession, tax cuts, two wars, and a scare campaign that Republicans have been successfully waging for decades to cover up their serial fiscal irresponsibility. Whether you let them fool you again is entirely up to you.

The fact is that Obama inherited a disaster of a federal budget. Eight years prior, when President George W. Bush took the oath of office, there was a $281 billion surplus. By the time Obama was sworn in, he was facing a $1.2 trillion deficit. Inconvenient though it may be for conservatives (especially those who are running for president), the truth is that spending, taxes and the deficit are all lower today than when President Obama took office.

Another BS article where they count the years incorrectly with their various BS excuses.

They gave the 2009 spending to Bush even though Obama took office in January of that year.

For some odd reason they start Reagan's spending in 1982 when he took office in 1980.

And, most of all, they only have 2 data points for democrats - Bill Clinton with a Republican House and dotCom bubble, and an incomplete Obama term.

Idiotic propaganda.

Over the next few years, projected deficits in CBO's baseline decline markedly, dropping to under $200 billion and averaging 1.5 percent of GDP over the 2013–2022 period.

I'd be pissed if Rmoney got in and took credit for the improving economy and falling deficits that Obama set up.

The budget for 2009 belongs to Bush and was passed months before Obama took office. That year's deficit of $1.2 trillion was forecast by CBO before Obama took office. We were running trillion dollar deficits for years after Bush regardless.

Reagan took office in 1981 and tripled the national debt with his stupid supply-side bullshit that has never worked.

The BS is yours.

You need to understand how that "surplus" worked. Clinton baked the numbers to make it look good. Ask yourself this, how could there have been BOTH a surplus in the budget AND an increase in the overall debt while Clinton was in offic?

The law states that any extra money made on Social Security HAS to be spent on OTHER places of the government. Legally, the government is not allowed to save any money in Social Security....thats how you know its a scam.

The dot com bubble created a bunch of young well paid individuals. So they paid alot in taxes (Social Security specifically), yet they did not need any of the services provided by Social Security. So Clintons administration took all that SURPLUS and used it to pay what the general tax pool would have payed. So thus when you look at the general tax pool suddenly it looked like Clinton didn't need as much money. But he was still spending the same amount of money.

Classic case of robbing from Peter to pay Paul.

The dot com bubble like any bubble eventually ended and all that tax income went away. This happened around 2000. And the technology industry still has not recovered to the levels it was at the end of the 90's.

Clinton is indirectly takeing credit for a bubble. Why anyone would take credit for a bubble is beyond me, bubbles never end well, and always end up costing more then if they hadn't happened.

Reagan's tactics of pumping money into the economy were not that much different that what Bush and Obama have done. But his efforts were more productive in the short term. Thats why his presidency was successfull. People didn't like what he was doing with the budget, but for the average Joe, there was a visible improvement...and thats all that mattered at election time.
