Obama, Romney tied in Dixville Notch

The first results of the 2012 election are in, and President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are tied.
As has been the tradition since 1960, residents of Dixville Notch, a tiny village in Coos County, New Hampshire, cast their ballots--all 1o of them--shortly after midnight Tuesday. The vote took just 43 seconds, with five counted for the president, and five for the Republican challenger.

When Brittney Edwards stepped into her voting booth at the Regents Parks Apartments on South Lake Shore Drive early today, little did she realize she was also stepping into the electoral equivalent of Doc Brown's DeLorean from Back to the Future.


Edwards, 25, did a double-take when she looked at the optical scan ballot handed her by an election judge and

the choices for president were Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas, not Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.
