Re: SLEEPING PILLS
Just go with valerian root, and benydryl. You will get sleep, but without the brain scrambling.

Re: SLEEPING PILLS
I never was given prescription sleeping pills. I do know that the OTC pills don't work for me.

What I found out was do to an unrelated (to me not sleeping) bleeding ulcer and soon to follow anemia, Iron pills (for whatever reason) works for me.

Good luck OP.

it is not a sleeping pill but an antidepressant.

Mirtazapine (Remeron, Avanza, Zispin) is a noradrenergic and specific serotonergic antidepressant (NaSSA) which was introduced by Organon International in the United States in 1990 and is used primarily in the treatment of depression. It is also commonly used as an anxiolytic, hypnotic, antiemetic, and appetite stimulant. Structurally, mirtazapine can also be classified as a tetracyclic antidepressant (TeCA).

You should at least give this a shot, OP. I had insomnia most of my life, and used to take sleeping pills, but I couldn't stand them especially once I had kids. Prescriptions make you groggy forever.

Try the 5mg. Depending on how tolerant you are, but that's a starting point.

You can look in the vitamin isle.

It's Remeron... that stuff will mess you up.

It's waaaaaay overkill... an off-label use.

Melatonin is the only thing that works in the research

Re: SLEEPING PILLS
The root of my problem is since my mum died 7 years ago, she had M N D and was in a nursing home.
Everyday after work I would go visit my mum and ask her if she needed anything like fags or treats she love macdonalds milk shake as it soothed her ,anyway my brothers and sisters would go see her if they needed money ,it pissed me off that they used her as mum had a few bob, then mum told me one day take me to the solicitors as I want to change my will.So I did this and mum left my brothers and sisters some but most of it to me, I had it in the bank for years and felt guilty for having it so I thought I will buy a house the one I live in. Anyway to this day I havent told anybody about this guilt I feel , I bottled everything up inside as I have nobody to talk to as I have never been open even to the wife, my father died two years after my mum and he was the only person I could speak to really and he said dont wory about the others but I always feel guilty , my dad wanted me to have all his aswell (mum and dad didnt live together)but had no will so it got split .But as time went by I was feeling more and more depressed that I cannot be bothered to go to work or get motivated ,so all you males out there dont bottle it up let it out and be open and show your emotions its not girly we all have to do it and stop thinking your a macho like I did or thought I was.

IB, thanks for sharing.

November is your month.... let it go!

go park your car somewhere... have a big talk with God, make a decision to forgive yourself.

What you owe is NOT your inheritance to your sibs... you owe the world to get off your guilt trip and live life.

The devil LOVES guilt and wants it to be your idol of worship for the rest of your years.

Renounce the guilt, let it go!

Make a decision and come back to LIFE!

Re: SLEEPING PILLS
IMO,

Cheapest, safest, and most effective sleeping aid is Temazepam (Restoril)--about $0.50/pill.

For over-the-counter sleeping pills, look for the ones whose active ingredient is doxylamine. Two of those will usually work. A couple of magnesium pills and a glass of milk will also help.
In his book, "Between Two Ages," Brzezinski wrote: "The technetronic era involves the gradual appearance of a more controlled society. Such a society would be dominated by an elite, unrestrained by traditional values."
