I wish it were that easy, in Hurricane Katrina we rallied and sent three semi's full or items in 36 hours. I do need a destination for my freight manifest. If I have no destination or receiver on the other end the truck would be stopped at every state line. It literally would not make it, the Department of transportation has strict rules so they know what is on our Interstates and what is being carried. They actually do a very good job of protecting the public.

Replace the word protecting the public... with "controlling" the public. Case in point, a free society where you are not allowed to give your items/goods to others without going through legal hoops and red tape. Land of the free my ass.

So why dont you put destination: New York, receiver: the ppl of new york and as content:food and supply in your godamn manifest? Be creative.

I am going to beg to differ with you. The DOT makes tries to protect the public from many things. I am not a fan of the government but I will tell you this. When you buy your food items, clothes, or any other thing it came to you via truck. I would bet there is nothing you own including the computer you are typing came to you by Semi. Do you think there a bad people out there? Yes there are and they would love to send to you sub standard items, black market items and stolen products. You my friend are living in the land of the free, and you are being also being preotected by the very people you complain about

just drive your truck into the middle of the hood with FREE SHIT painted on the side. we will have the black welcoming party ready to greet you. make sure the driver understands its a 1 way trip.

It is a grocery store that was about to open. It is in Island Park, right next to the bridge going over to Long Beach. It has a huge parking lot.

Long Beach has no power or clean water, most homes were flooded, and since the dunes were destroyed, it is likely to flood again when this Nor'easter hits.

Okay King Kullen is a park, but I do see two Bakers, one No Frills and a Misons oriental food mart. Can any of these accept 53 foot trailers?

King Kullen is a grocery store with a gigantic parking lot. I am pretty sure it had not yet had its grand opening, so the parking lot should be mostly empty.

I have never heard of the other places listed there. You are looking at Long Beach, NY and Island Park, NY?

There is also a Long Beach Island in NJ, which also got devastated, so that might be confusing.

im in Jersey ....... if u really want to help take the garden state parkway ........ getting to new york or northern jersey will be a nightmare ....... in central jersey east most of the rescue departments as well as churchs r taking donations and giving to the people ......

Okay, this is going to sound odd but what do you need? We sent water, diapers, baby formula and generators to New Orleans. Is this what you need? Be very direct and detailed for what is needed. We need to know exactly and then will you be the point of contact? If not could you find me someone that would?

On FB go to "Long Beach NY, Hurricane Information". There are some very connected people on there, including the guy who created the page. He can give you a name.

Contact churches in the area as many have charities and distibute goods and assistance as best they can. The Mormon church, as most of us here already know, also has a network of assistance for its members. In large disasters it assists the general public as well.
