Your ancestors would beg to differ. You do realize the Germans are the people that named us Devil Dogs. They named us this since they had never seen men fight as hard as the Marines.

It was like Special education. I can't speak for infantry, I was a Artillery Radar Operator and everyone on in my section was very well trained and knew exactly what needed to be done. These guys that were allegedly infantry didn't happen to be reservists did they? It's been ten years since I got out but, when I was in, all the active duty guys were good to go and well trained. They knew their duties inside and out. The reservists on the other hand acted exactly as you stated above... My best recollection is that they were active duty. It may just have been a bad group I was with. But If I had my choice, I'd rather have an army ranger, SEAL, or regular army infantry with me. Too many bad experiences. All the marines I met just never shut up about how great they were, and that is always a bad sign. It's like when guys try to tell you how tough they are and can kick ass. A real bad ass guy never opens his mouth.
