Re: Former ‘Extreme Couponer’ Admits: It’s a Waste of Time
Extreme couponers ruined it for the folks who were saving big bucks with coupons before it became this big ridiculous trend.
I used to get at least $100 off my bill from ad matching and coupons. But now it's 50 cents off of 3 things instead of 1, and ad matching can only be done for the pictured item not just brands, etc.

Really sucks, because I could use that extra help nowadays.

Toxic chemicals disguised as soaps/deodorants and processed GMO garbage labeled as "food"

The one common theme with the extreme couponers - they are all obese and have a myriad of health problems due to poor nutrition. You notice they never get a deal on perishable/fresh items, only crap that can sit in your basement for 2 years.

These companies give their products away to suckers who think they are getting something for free. They just provide a steady supply of patients for big pharma.

Couponing aside what store can you go in and buy any food that doesn't have toxic chems or some sort of bad preservatives in them besides an organic store? i have seen coupons for every brand/manufacturer and food that is in the stores.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2780903

Plenty. The whole foods; fruits, veggies, meats, fish, dairy, bakery and deli are ALWAYS on the outside of the store. That's where your healthiest choices are. If you have minimal cooking skills you can control what enters your body.

Most people don't read labels. If they see diet or fat free or more likely "now with 20% more free" they throw it on their cart without even reading the label. I could name 100 products I stopped buying because the ingredients became more processed and chemical-laden every time I looked at the ingredients/formula.

You just have to know how to cook from scratch and properly package meals for the storage - the deep freeze is your preservative, not the shelf.

I will take a healthy family with fewer trips to the doctor and no dependence on big pharma over a few extra dollars in my pocket any day.

I never understood how they did that. Around here you can only use 1 coupon for a product.

I hate cheapskates.
 Quoting: BRIEF

You seen the Extreme Cheapskates show? My GOD this one guy was just insane, I wanted to smack him in the face! He spent a night at a friend's house, promised to cook them dinner. And he brought fucking salmon CARCASSES just the heads with little bits of meat stuck on the bones and tail and was like "OH yeah it's awesome! I only paid a dollar for these! Why would you pay more for salmon fillets?" Because it's fucking MEAT you asshole! You don't bring trash to serve your friends at a "special dinner"! This other guy had an art party and served box wine watered down with watermelon chunks in it, and cut up hot dogs and fucking baked beans with a TOOTHPICK stuck in individual beans! I get it these people want to save money but they have zero social skills and really come off like homeless bums serving garbage to their friends and expecting them to applaud their cheapness! ugghhhh!

I love this! I always knew it wasn't worth it! Got so sick of people telling me to spend my Sundays clipping newspapers apart.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26727474

If you can find coupons for items you would be buying anyway, why not clip them and use them?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17989851

I do, whenever possible. Problem is, most of the coupons are for stuff I won't touch with a ten foot pole :-/

Went in local grocery and saw sign -
No printed coupons accepted.

Exactly. Coupons are mostly for stuff I wouldn't normally buy.
However, my neighbor does coupons, and gets all the Walgreens bargains.

Re: Former ‘Extreme Couponer’ Admits: It’s a Waste of Time
I know a couple of ladies that are extreme couponers. They brag about all the cheap stuff they get, but when they say what they bought, its usually stuff that you dont need.

Its things like 12 bottles of brown shoepolish...yes they paid $2.00 for it when it cost $20, but they wasted $2 bucks on useless junk...multiply that by the 100 things they buy they dont need and they are actually wasting cash.

Its like: I saved 3 bucks so i bought 10 of them for 30 bucks...See, I saved 30 bucks...to which i respond: no, you wasted $30 bucks. now if you can resell it for a profit, then nice job. but the merchandise just sits on their hoardings shelves in the garage for years. LOL.

LOL, please believe this!!!!!!! It is a waste of time since the values have been lowered on coupons because of so many joining in on the game. That awful show ruined it for those of us that have been using coupons for years.

Yep. I very seldom buy name brand anything, so coupons generally don't benefit me much. I always look through the newspaper coupons just in case, though. Now if only I could get discounts on fresh produce. That would be awesome...if for nothing else than to get prices back down to where they were a year ago.

That's what normal people do...the freaks OP is referring to are the ones that write the manufacturers and ask for free shit and combine 20 different coupons to get as much free stuff as possible.
 Quoting: BRIEF

Yup, that is right. Bunch of bullshit as far as the extreme coupling, just more garbage tv. If I wanted to use all the coupons, even for stuff I do use, I would have to put on about hundreds of miles and blow several hundred on fuel to get the good deals. Anything most people do save by jumping around from store to store is spent on transportation.............. unless of course you live in the bowels of an urban centre.

All Bad for you.....

Fruits, veggies are spray with pesticides and most are now engineered.

Meats / dairy are full of steroids and special hormones and most animals are abused

fish are now loaded with mercury

Bakery & deli are derived from the above.....
