What's your alternative mode of transportation ?
For 40 years, I have walked everywhere, never got a driver's license, never bought a vehicle other then a bike

Some might consider this odd, but I've felt it to be complimentary to my lifestyle of non-materialism and asceticism, some people call it " Poverty ".

My whole life I've watched people whizzing down the road to get somewhere they usually don't even want to be.

I prefer schlepping around in Birkenstocks, and I get there when I do.

What's your alternate mode of transportation these days ?

I think it's GREAT that you use transportation suited for you but why tell us you're a looser because you won't get off your as? If it works for you great but don't promote it as an enlightened life style when it's just laziness. You remind me of those guru pukes in the 60s and 70s they tried to spew this enlightened life too until everybody figured out they were worthless and didn't help around the commune.

Keep on keeping on but don't try to blow sunshine up are ass!

Idk, I just always liked walking.

I don't look down on people for doing what they do, I just wonder why they do it sometimes.

Everybody complains about being overweight but people practically drive to the kitchen to make a sandwich.

It might be a good thing for people to walk more.

True, you need a grocery-getter and something to haul the grubs around if you have a family.

I don't have family, so it's been good for me, especially financially. Even if I did have kids, they'd become well-acquainted with walking and riding a bike, or public transportation.

I feel like my health is better for it too, it's helped keep me slim.

I agree about more people needing a good walk!

To watch the cars and suv's circling the mall parking lot so they don't have to walk too far to the entry way LOL

The intention of living near the things you do is a positive force (good for you), but I fully support our rural folks and their need for quality personal transportation, no agenda 21 support here!

How unfortunate for some rulers when men, women, and children continue to think... Keep repeating the lies loud enough and long enough and just maybe the people will start to believe the lies again and good luck with that...finding your energy open until mars becomes raging aries...

Good for you, OP! I have never had a car, don't want one. I walk, bike, or use buses and trains. And yes, you can manage with kids too, I have! Stress free, cheap, no accidents or fuel price worries, and I weigh 112 lb (I am a 5' 3" female), which is the same as I weighed at 16.

Man, everybody I know is constantly bitchin' and moanin' about having to pay for this, pay for that, broken water pump, price of gas, etc.

I really don't knock it if that's what people want, but it's saved me some serious cash over the years, plus headaches, etc.
Its not me.

I live in a rural area so a vehicle is a must. Walking 20 miles to work or biking in -5 degree weather isn't my idea of fun. My children wouldn't like it either.
And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it." Amen.
