Photo ID's and Voting
I voted for the first time today as for the first time I have a reason to not want a certain someone in office for the next four years. I was very surprised when I went to show my photo ID that they said it was not needed. I asked how do they know I am who I say I am and the response was "well you have your voters card."
With the worry of voter fraud this just seems to stupid to be true. You can vote with out proving you have a right to vote? What is the logic behind this. Seems to me they are opening the door for people to steal identities to vote. Is this the case every where or am I just in an area that doesn't care?

Re: Photo ID's and Voting
I have done some checking with friends that have voted some said they were required to show some form of ID, while others say just the card was enough. Anyone know what is really supposed to be required?

This is why Democrat's will fight Voter ID Laws tooth & nail. It takes away their ability to count dead people...etc.
They don't want a level playing field.

All I had to show was a form of ID. They found my name and I signed off. I didn't need my voter card.

This I would be happy with but I had the opposite. I had My DL in hand to show and they said they just needed the voter card. Even though on the voter card it says you have to have an ID issued by the state of MO, the US government, or an institution of higher education of MO. Then goes to list what is acceptable. So Why when I showed my ID they turned it away and said they just need to see the voter card?

I wasn't even thinking of dead people I was just thinking of people that are registered that won't vote and will give/sell their card to someone that will.

California does not reuire you to show ID. However, the do have a 3 step verification process where they match you up with your home address...still I believe showing ID isa the only true way to minimize fraud

Re: Photo ID's and Voting
I was actually asked for it twice. First, to one person near the entrance who confirmed my address for that district. She looked at my address, showed it to the person next to her to verify, and directed me to a table. I then showed it to the person at the table, who also verified it with the person next to him, then he looked up my name on the list, I signed off and received my ballot. I didn't mind at all, I appreciated it.
